Lucretia - Demon Princess (Cute 'em up) Paid artist wanted

Post by Eponasoft »

This is Eponasoft's first "proper" console demo release ever, and our first serious attempt at a complete shooter. This is a two-player co-op cute 'em up in the vein of Magical Chase and Cotton. Other games of influence include Lords Of Thunder, Sidearms Hyperdyne, and Air Zonk. It is the semi-direct sequel to Paradox Girl, a previous Eponasoft production for Windows. Paradox Girl featured two segments where the main player character, Equuskia, could ride a broomstick to fight the enemies. The idea was so well-received by the players that we decided to take that concept and make a whole game out of it. Thus, "Lucretia - Demon Princess" was born.

It's a PC Engine Super CD game so it will run on a PC Engine Duo, TurboDuo, or original CD hardware with the System 3 upgrade card. It will also run in all PC Engine emulators capable of running CDROM games, but the preferred emulator is Mednafen (it will run in Magic Engine but will have some graphics issues due to improper emulation). It is likely to get an Ouya conversion in the future.

Replacement ISO to correct some critical issues (releasing it into the wild paid off bigtime to find technical errors):

Any and all critiques welcome. :) And yes, I know it doesn't have scoring yet... I've not yet implemented it because I wanted to get the game mechanics ironed out first. Also, some of the collision is off in the demo version.

Right now, we're looking for a graphics artist who can pixel background art within the confines of the limited hardware. This is a paid (profit-share or per-piece, negotiable) position. The existing pixel art for the background in stage 1 is for another project of ours, so we would like to replace it. Also, most of the other levels need background art as well. Only stages 2 and 8 have final background art right now, so we need pixels for six stages. Some of these are really simplistic, being infinite scrolls, while some are somewhat more detailed. I don't mind if the pixels are recycled as long as they're able to be legally used in a semi-open source production (the source code for the game engine will be released after the proper physical release of the game, but the assets will remain the copyright of their respective copyright holders).
