R-TYPES PSX settings

I have the itch to finally 1CC this game so I dug out my copy of PSX R-TYPES. Should I be turning "wait control" off on these (also asking for RTYPE II) or on to make them more authentic? And for difficulty is "normal" considered the default arcade setting or should I up it? Anything else I should adjust to bring each of these closer to the PCBs?

I suggest keeping the wait on, since the speed feels more accurate, though R-Type (haven't played arcade R-Type II) still has less slowdown than the arcade no matter what the setting.

I've had R-TYPES on my PSP for a while now, along with Delta. Always handy to have on the train. :>
