modding Virtua Stick HSS-0136
I recently purchased a Virtua Stick HSS-0136. I want to mod it completely. What do you recommend for the stick and buttons? Where to buy cheapest? Aliexpress?
Also I need a template for it. Where can I find one? Thanks.

If it's going to be used with a wide variety of games (including shmups) the consensus seems to be to go with either a Seimitsu LS-32 or LS-40 for the sticks. If you're going to be playing primarily fighting games, Sanwa JLF is the better choice. For buttons, you won't go wrong with either Sanwa or Seitmitsu, though Sanwa tend to be softer to the touch and more sensitive.
I buy my arcade parts from either Akihabarashop in Japan, or Focus Attack in the United States.

Re: modding Virtua Stick HSS-0136
My virtua stick came stock with an LS-56 which is actually my favorite stick. In fact just tonight I decided to replace the pcb and gate with a new one (which are actually LS-33 pcbs now, same thing though). The other half of the stick seems glued onto the bottom of the control panel plate, so that part doesn't seem easy to replace. Also the buttons are connected to a pcb, so it's going to take a bit of work to replace those, along with the fact that they aren't 30mm so you'll have to widen the holes just barely to fit standard buttons.

Here is my own work log for the HSS-0136
http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/ ... d-work-log
I recommend the LS-56-01 or LS-58-01
The LS-32 will not mount properly
any 30mm japanese push buttons would work, but you have to widen the holes anyways.
I ended up using Seimitsu ps-15

Thanks, nice work! You saved me from buying Sanwa JLF...
You bought the parts from Akihabarashop.jp? Is there a cheaper place?

Is it possible to find the micro switches used in the stock buttons? One of them is not working ... I can buy the buttons if someone has them...
It seems that they are the same ones used in keyboards...?

No, the push buttons in the HSS 136 do not use keyboard switches.beharius wrote:Is it possible to find the micro switches used in the stock buttons? One of them is not working ... I can buy the buttons if someone has them...

Take a note on which style joystick you have,
If you have a Seimitsu LS-56 then you have Seimitsu PS-15 push buttons and use the smaller seimitsu switches
If you have the Acsii joystick, then you also have ascii push buttons which are discontinued
In that case I replace the whole button with a Seimitsu PS-15

they are ascii, switches are Alps.
need to widen the holes or just replacing the micro switches is enough?

I put in bigger countersinked holes so I could mount an LS-32 in mine. Also had to file down the tabs that prevent you from putting regular push buttons in. Can upload pics if you want me to.

I replaced the stick with a ls56, however the buttons are stock and one of them is not working, it needs to be widened a little bit for Sanwa...

Re: modding Virtua Stick HSS-0136
I found the exact model micro switches(Alps) here as NOS, however those cheap buttons have the replica of these switches too... It fits well and has a little bit click noise.
