SNES Mini US picture issues.

Post by Thamiel »

Just got my SNES SCART cable from Retro Console Accessories, not getting any picture on my CRT though. All other consoles work just fine at either 50hz or 60hz.

SNES Mini is modded for RGB, i'm thinking maybe it's an incompatibility between the cable and the mod on the SNES? At something of a loss...

EDIT: Additional info! Hookep the SNES Mini up to my Vigatec FX2. Here's the results:

SNES Mini with PAL SCART cable (Just tried it for the hell of it).

SNES Mini with US SCART cable.

As you can see the picture of the SNES with the US SCART cable is really washed out, no detail in the backgrounds (until the screen fades) and generally just very off.

Here's a video showing what's happening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXP1sY06 ... e=youtu.be

Also, the top 1/5th of the screen is unaligned with the rest of the image and vibrating very quickly. Tried to capture it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySotCXlN ... e=youtu.be

Any help with ironing out these issues would be much apprecited, particularly getting this working on my CRT.

Ok, I solved the vibrating issue by running the FX2 into a Gefen VGA to DVI scaler. So I guess that means the TV was having some slight issues syncing to the SNES?

In any case, here's Aladdin:

Image is red as fuck, however when I ran Ogre Battle the start screen looked mostly right (it's a predominantly blue screen) so i'm thinking that the SCART cable from retro accessories is the problem here.

Just to check it wasn't anything in the chain (scalers or adapters) I plugged in the 'ole MVS:

Camera phone shot is a bit shitty but I'm really happy with how it looks in person, looks killer. Smashing some Last Blade at the moment as I ponder, no problems there either!
