You are awful if you didn't clear C-EX Novice on your first try.

You are, in your own words, a shitbag. I don't even need to see your replay, if you didn't clear then there's really nothing to see.
Where's your replay eh mate?

IIRC, DTP's Xbox live ID is Agent Killmore.

Edit: confirmed, it's AgentKillmore: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... &start=150

I'll take you up on that. Going to clear Novice Shot right now. See you in a credit or two.

You know what... it's sad when only one person off this forum added me... and they didn't add me for the hell of it. They added me for a bit of fun.

..Even sadder when people try to present practice runs as if they are my extremity of my ability.

Incidentally "Obscura" what's your XBL ID so that I can poke fun at every interaction you've had online in these games and others?.. not that you'd dare upload a sub-optimal run...

..what would people think? your whole illusion shattered in the blink of an eye.

... it's hardly novice. It's like normal difficulty on pretty much any other cave game.
Hey, I haven't really been active here before but been reading from time to time. But after reading this claim made by you over and over again I just had to give my two cents on it. I am by no means good at shmups, I have a clear here and there and some games and have played on and off for about 2 years. In no way is this game on novice "a normal difficulty", heck it's way easier than Futari BL original, ESPGaluda, Deathsmiles etc..

I got the 1-ALL on my first try and I struggle and I've only managed to get a CC on Futari BL Original like twice out of countless tries. I'm not saying everyone should get the 1-ALL, I'm just saying it's not nearly as hard as the other stuff. Stage 5 was maybe tricky at times, but that was it.

You know what... I'd love to be friends with people here...

Well.. if you are actually serious about scores and whatever then I'd love to have you on my list for XBL.

Message me on XBL if you wanna play. Don't bother if you are trying to abuse my friendship.

I don't have an Xbox 360, so no live account.

I've posted plenty of YouTube footage of me sucking (usually, when I post footage, it's because I'm looking for help on some segment)- look up Obscura304 on YouTube.

(I've since lost the login to that account, but so far the only vid on my new account is my Kamui 1cc, which itself has loads of errors, but probably isn't what you're looking for).

Oh, and "my illusion"? Everyone here knows I'm a bad player.

I didn't save it. I figured that there's no sense in saving a terrible run. Just clearing isn't good by any means.
I have no-bombs clears of shmups that I've thrown out because they weren't good enough for me and the same principle will apply to SDOJ here. You shouldn't expect to see a replay of it before I can do a run that will satisfy me.

Basically any run carried out on the Xbox 360 will look terrible because I have no way to play them with a keyboard so you probably won't ever see a replay from me sorry. You'll just have to take my word that I cleared the game on my first credit and that it was so poorly executed that I didn't want to save it.

There. First credit of novice mode ever, and I 1cc'd shot. Replay is on the leaderboards under trap0xF. Eat your heart out, DTP :roll:

OK, np.

I'm just the sort of person who can't be judged on his shmup skills based on a run from a character that he never plays.. in a game that he hates.

..People wanna add me then fair enough. I like competition..... there's no-one else on my list, but it's not open to abuse if that's your intention.

If I (a very mediocre player, mind you) can 1CC a mode that I've never played before in a game that I've had less than two weeks and put less than 10 hours into, how can you possibly consider it "normal" CAVE difficulty when I can't 1CC most of their other games with certainly no less than ~50 hours on them? Moreover, how can Novice Shot ever be considered 'unfair' or 'difficult' under any circumstance? Even Futari Arrange took me more than 1 credit, and that's a piss-easy mode.

Sorry... it's really late here.

I'll download it tomorrow and pleasure myself a few times during the re-screening.

Once again it's funny that no-one has anything to say about my normal replay....Tomorrow I'll post a new high-score... better in every way.

I just watched it. You choose Autobomb OFF, but I think you only used one bomb throughout the entire credit. You're dying with 3, 4, even 5 bombs in stock instead of using them to get you out of trouble. That's probably your biggest problem.

Why the fuck did you buy the game then?!

It's been out less than a month - if you really hate DDP, why buy it?! Sell it to someone and save them the import tax.

This is actually my biggest problem, too. I can manage some decent clears, but consistency is really shit for me as I'll often hoard bombs to the point where people like moh'll watch me play Futari and yell at me "why didn't you bomb there?!" as I die to something silly with plenty of bombs.

there is nothing wrong to die with a stock of bomb if your target is to score as high as possible, means you tried your best and took some risk, as bombing could lower your potential final score.

now dying with a stock of bomb if you only intend to 1CC a game, then yes, it's a bit stupid :)

What layout do people use when playing with a stick?

But a genuine problem, and a "skill" that can be difficult to learn.
The auto-bomb in DFK makes it seem way easier than the usual Cave shooter to me, but if my bombing skills were up to par, the difference would have been less obvious.
DrTP should be working on knowing when to bomb, or otherwise enable the autobomb.

I use Shot > Rapid > Hyper/Bomb from left to right in a line across the lower set of buttons on my 8 button stick, as a template for CAVE games, and only have to resort to configuring the top row for things like DFK Power style etc. My pinky is the bomb reflex mechanism :wink: Avoid taking your finger off Shot or Rapid to use a bomb, cos you won't be quick enough.

The stick I use has the standard Street Fighter layout, just so you know.

Apologies for the lateness, but I don't bother with the internet outside of work.

Heh. I said "work".

Anyway. *ahem*

Hey, TrouserPlank! Your Shot C Novice replay is wank, and that makes you a shitbag!

Happy to oblige. Let me know if it did the trick.

PS. Three guesses what my 360 tag is, and two of them is "not Stevas?"

PPS. I knows I'm not any goods at these games, thanks! I only have the time to get just above shit at them. Maybe when I retire I can focus on remembering attack patterns and the like, but, for now, this old boy relies purely on his already faltering "reactions".

6-button stick

[X][Y]
[A][LT][RT]

A = Shot
B = Rapid
X = Bomb/Hyper
All other buttons = Unused

8 Button stick, not that it makes a difference:

Code: Select all

[ B][ X][ Y][LB]
[ A][LT][RT][RB]
B = Rapid
X = Shot
A = Bomb/Hyper

others unused as well.

As you can see people use different layouts. The lesson: use whatever is comfy for you.

Kinda funny how we call using the laser = "shot" button, and using shot = "rapid".

I like to bomb with my index finger so my setup is:

Bomb Rapid (middle)
Shot (thumb)

Heh. What about using arcade layout to be able to play on PCB someday ?

Code: Select all

[SHOT][BOMB][AUTO][    ]
[    ][    ][    ][    ]

Futari and DFK both use Shot/Rapid naming as far as I recall, and it makes more sense than calling the Shot button 'Laser' as it can do both Shot or Laser. Rapid however, has only one function, full auto rapidfire, i.e. tapping the shot button.
