Don't take it too seriously though.Wonderbanana wrote:Right...
The issues do affect you. The business model kills the long term viability and collectability of games. Imagine if all the SNES and Megadrive games in the world stopped working 10 years ago.Wonderbanana wrote:I don't agree with everything their doing but to be honest their game line up is better (for me anyhow) and the various issues people have don't really affect me. Edit: Sorted - went with Amazon.

Very different than the Xbone will turn out, Xbone is a closed platform, PCs are not.I remember the internet kicking off over Steam and Half Life 2 and look how that evolved and turned out

Given we know the layout, size and design - given it doesn't differ hugely from previous iterations for either system - how could you possibly not understand why I already have a preference?

I've heard the dpad on individual 360 controllers vary, and even the PS1 dpad feels different from the PS2 one despite them being aesthetically nearly identical... like I am pretty well convinced now that the PS1 dpad is much better than the PS2's.Wonderbanana wrote:The pad that I assume you haven't tried yet?ZellSF wrote:Wonderbanana wrote:The only factor is what I want to play which exclusive wise, for me, Microsoft wins. I do, and the issues with early 2004-era Steam had nothing to do with DRM. The issues had mainly to do with how slow, buggy and crashy it was, not to mention how it's updates broke itself half the time.Wonderbanana wrote:Do you even remember the first days of Steam, what it was or actually understand why people were unhappy with it?ZellSF wrote:Very different than the Xbone will turn out, Xbone is a closed platform, PCs are not.Wonderbanana wrote:I remember the internet kicking off over Steam and Half Life 2 and look how that evolved and turned out
PC games have been (mostly) built for compatibility to run on constantly evolving hardware. The XBox One, on the other hand, is expected to be a standardized video game platform which will be obsolete and replaced in 6-10 years, with a precedent of the servers being shut down a couple years after the XBox Deuce comes out.Wonderbanana wrote:Do you even remember the first days of Steam, what it was or actually understand why people were unhappy with it?
Couldn't agree more. I'm no MS lover anymore than I am a Sony hater and as stated I'm only buying a system that has games on I want to play, nothing more. Ill buy a PS4 later down the line I suspect for the same reasonlouisg wrote:

And who knows what either of these systems will be doing in a year game-wise. When the US Saturn was announced, if you looked at the lineup, you'd be like, "wow! Daytona and Virtua Fighter!", not knowing that these were sub-par rushed ports and the system would have its plug pulled in under 3 years. 'course there was plenty of good stuff for that system, esp. if you imported, but you know-- you can't tell how these consoles will turn out until they launch.
Like the PS4 is looking great right now and everyone is talking about the demise of the xbone, but who knows. Maybe it looks good on paper, but it comes out and the performance isn't so hot. Maybe either this or the xbone breaks after 2 weeks. You can't quite predict these things from a couple E3 showings. Way too premature for a lot of this stuff.
Rubbish. To get my old PC games working would require a ton of hassle and in some cases old hardware due to the rapid advances, especially to even read the media their on. A lot of my physical PC games from years back are nothing more than eye candy on a shelf now.Zerst wrote:PC games have been (mostly) built for compatibility to run on constantly evolving hardware. Steam could've turned out to be a disaster, but they supported it somewhat well, and there are no signs of them going "well, we need to improve our infrastructure so now we are going to release Steam 2 and shut off Steam 1, apologies to your now-invalid game collections". Microsoft, on the other hand, has been showing signs of making a huge grab right out of the gate, possibly to try to "cash out" on all the money they invested buying gamers to the 360.
Which ones?Wonderbanana wrote:A lot of my physical PC games from years back are nothing more than eye candy on a shelf now.
I sure as hell can't tell how good a dpad is from looking at a picture, nor can I tell how good analogs are... Or well a lot of stuff that's pretty important in a controller.Wonderbanana wrote:The pad that I assume you haven't tried yet?ZellSF wrote:Wonderbanana wrote:The only factor is what I want to play which exclusive wise, for me, Microsoft wins. I've pointed out quite clearly my preferences are personal, so I really don't understand why you're persisting with this.ZellSF wrote: I sure as hell can't tell how good a dpad is from looking at a picture, nor can I tell how good analogs are... No word on the "unsupported regions" BS from about a week ago, may be thrown out, may not be.

Well, the ONLY (as in, ONLY) reason for me to get an xboner would be a perfect (as in, PERFECT) integration of the oculus rift. (i.e.: full 1920x1080, 60fps graphics, no noticeable lag (<20ms) in headtracking and bodytracking).Skyline wrote:http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update

Well, in a near future, you can of course trade your discs, but unfortunately not the DLC, which will be necessary for almost each and every game...CMoon wrote: That said, I'm sure we'll see them try this shit again at some point, but I doubt Microsoft will forget the lesson anytime soon.
