good halloween shmup?
I suppose level 2 of Harmful Park comes to mind, but it's a bit cutesy. What should I play at midnight (if I manage to finish my work by then)?

I can't believe nobody has suggested one of the Cotton series yet.

Centipede might or might not be a little too classy, but it's got creepy crawlies to say the least.
Life Force and R-Type are always good for Bio Stages and gory stuff.

The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

Oh yeah! Pirates, a witch, lots of costumed goons. Good call.
Harmful park, Cotton series would make the list.
I'll throw in Spriggan and Night Raid, although Night Raid may be too abstract for some.

Only shooter I had a chance to play tonight was Robotech: The Macross Saga on GBA. Not the best shooter around, but better than nothing for a few minutes. Carved a hadoken (down arrow, forward crouch, forward arrow, P) in my pumpkin, and kids had no idea what the hell it was.
No love for Street Fighter, I guess.

Should have either done PPPK, or one of the stupidly long Tekken 10hit combo sequences ^_-superhitachi4 wrote:Carved a hadoken (down arrow, forward crouch, forward arrow, P) in my pumpkin, and kids had no idea what the hell it was.No love for Street Fighter, I guess.
Or the classic Konami Code. ^_-

Nah, challenging you to another rap duel would probably be more fun.bloodflowers wrote:And you even mentioned it up there. I'm blind, sue me

Yeah, as ben said just scroll through the list of extra modes, "slow mode" is one of 'em. Pretty fun, actually, but all the stupid screams and stuff will drive you nuts before long, just like the laughter in "comic" mode.the cap'n wrote:Slow mode in Gekioh? I've never heard of this. Yeah, this cap'n obviously needs a slooow mode. I hope I can access this in the PS2 version of Shienryu-- I'll give it a try tomorrow.BulletMagnet wrote:Yeah, as ben said just scroll through the list of extra modes, "slow mode" is one of 'em. How in heaven's name did I somehow confuse you with cap'n ahar? That's it, no more crack before posting.
In any event, Slow Mode (or any of the other modes) aren't on Double Shienryu, unfortunately...you need the PS1 "Gekioh" to get those (I think both the Japanese and US versions have 'em all, not sure if it ever even got a Europe release). The US version's plenty cheap, so you might consider grabbing that if you can play it...I don't think the import is too much more pricey than it is, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I thought you were either mixing me up with the true Captain or making some sort of reference to the cap in my avatar.BulletMagnet wrote:*smacks self*
