I need some Ketsui Loving

Post by Leeram »

Well, had my trip to London with my mates and two things stick in my mind.

First that it is a crime how badly the Casino arcade is under utilised. For the whole time I was there on a Sunday morning there was no one in it apart from the three of us. It really is a shame, I don't understand how they can keep the place going.

How absolutely awesome Ketsui is. We got to have a good go at it and it's absolutely the best Cave game I have played up to now.

So I was wondering where I can get it, in what forms (Jamma PCB, cart and board, console version?) and how much it costs. Can any of you chaps help please so I can start saving!

Cheers

I don't know what "format" (for lack of a better word) it's available in for arcade machines or whatnot, but as of now there's no console port of it, though supposedly Arika was hoping to do one at some point...nothing at all confirmed though. There was a topic about this some time ago, maybe if you searched you could find it.

It is only available in Jamma single PCB form.

They pop up on Yahoo Japan auctions every so often. Also PCB dealers like cosmic and excellent may have some.

Beware it's a bit expensive right now. Kits were going for $600+ on yahoo recently, although the price appears to have slipped a bit, back down to the $500 level.

The Apoloclypse DVD which has apparently two replays, a picture book, and the soundtrack (normal + arrange) was released yesterday as well.

It's a shame that EspGaluda, Ketsui and DDP: DoJ are only available on single-board versions of the PGM hardware.

If they'd been released on PGM cart, along with the cart versions of DemonFront, DDP:BS and the Knights of Valour series, it would have made a PGM MoBo a decent purchase. Oh well.

And the Cave Hardware also seems incredibly similar to the PGM Hardware. If only all those Cave games had come out on PGM cart too. The system would be a shmupper's dream.

As I understand it, they turn a profit on the pinballs, but essentially it's kept running by the big vids inside the door, and all the fruit machines. I'm happy the owner likes to have a vids section - any lesser owner would already have turned the downstairs into some gambling related thing.

I need Ketsui too. It's a huge game, the kind of you can play for months and months. Fuck the price of the PCB, and the people that buy it without playing it

I haven't played it in a while. I did achieve a decent score and have gotten to stage 5, but the wheels come off at that point. It's very frustrating.
