That's good and all, but it seems you can't order it from their site for now (probably at their store, then site later), at least hopefully they'll have more of the new stuff once I check it out until AX comes by and maybe pick this up, or the other new titles, lol. :3

Is there some way to quickly view locally saved scores? Right now I can only see the scores for a specific ship type after I start a credit, end it, and let the game load the score screen again. I've tried pressing all of the buttons (even the R-stick!) during the score scrolling, but nothing works. If there is no way to do this, I really hope they add it to the upcoming patch.

I thought the non-stop talking was exclusive to 360 mode but even in Arcade HD they just won't shut the fuck up. How do I get the same voice set-up as the PCB?
I think that's how it is on the PCB, I remember it being something that stood out when the first videos came out.

Whoa I don't recall this being mentioned before so sorry if it was, but I just found an amazing option I had no idea existed. I was watching one of my own replays, and found out if you press X during the replay it will give you the option to jump in and start playing from that exact point. Really cool for practicing ways to clean up your run. Was this something that was in other Cave games that I just overlooked?

It was in akai katana. I never really saw the appeal of it though.

Akai Katana does this too, it lets you re-record replays if you want (and will make a note of how many times you've done this in the replay), basically a way of making a tool-assisted run on a console game if you want to show off how high you can possibly score in a perfect run, etc. I agree that it's not really an option that's likely to see much use though, as full playthroughs in one sitting are generally what people will focus on.

Well I just hopped in to personally kill off Inbachi in my 1cc 360 mode replay and it gave me the full 100 coins when I finished, so apparently you can also use this as an efficient way to farm coins.

What the FUCK... of all the buttons available...
I recently picked up a Hori RAP VX-SE Kai, which does have an RSB button, but I'm glad they saw how nuts that is.

From the hand-full of credits I spent on playing SDOJ at arcades, I'd have to agree with KOA.

I think it's due to the low amount of slowdown. I think it would be more fun with more slowdown or slower bullets.

Sometimes I feel like everything's a little bigger in SDOJ. Enemies, bullets, hitbox, even the bee medals are way bigger than usual

I think you're right about that. Would need some more direct comparisons, but the bullets and bees are definitely bigger on average.

NTSC-J wrote:Yes, they fixed the Saya select, too. I wasn't sure what the "secret item" was so I didn't mention it, but it says that after purchasing it, you can now select it with the "back button". So on the character select screen, press whatever you have set to back and she should be selectable.
That's great! (I still don't understand why they even pick that button.)

Another thing that's throwing me off is that the bullets aren't straight. They curve ever so slightly when they look like they should be moving in a straight line.

The effects on bullets are bigger, you can see it directly in the sprites sheets because instead of looking clean and well ordered some look like a mess very difficult to maintain. There are some big bullets, but hibachi-style V bullets are exactly the same.

Same-class bullets between DFK (clean sheet) and SDOJ (mess):

I got the game on Wednesday. I'm really enjoying it so far. I like that there's a pretty good amount of stuff to tinker with like the challenges and the gameplay modifications you can unlock in the shop. I'm not of a high enough skill to compete on the leaderboards seriously so I don't mind turning on stuff that changes the way the game plays. It's neat to shake it up.

I have never cleared the arcade version of a cave game although I have played them all and they are enjoyable to just play 1 credit and go as far as I can (lvl3, doesn't matter the game) or credit feed just to have a few laughs with how wild some of the later levels can get. I really like the novice mode and the 360 mode. I like that the difficulty scales really well (Deathsmiles did this well too). I have been playing since I got it and just today I was able to clear Novice mode with B-shot (I never use B-type in DoDonPachi games, now I'm wondering why not). That should give you an indication of my skill. But it's good. I like that I can gradually build up my skills that way, moving from Novice shot to laser to expert to full on 1.5 mode.

Like others have said, the interface needs work. I'm on a tate 4:3 monitor and buying things in the shop is a mild inconvenience. Once I unlock everything from the shop I want (wallpapers and sound clips are worthless to me as I can't see them and I have the voices off) it will become less of an issue. I can memorize how many clicks down replays are if I wanna save some and watch them.

Just picked this up today on a whim (was going to wait for the PCB price to come down a little, but had a moment of weakness). After waiting 20 minutes or so for my 360 to download and install all the system updates from the last 6 months or so (this may actually be the first time I've turned it on this year), I played a couple of credits. I'm not sure if the game is any good because there were 2 bitches blabbing in my ears the whole time.

Move the stick right at the character select screen. The first one is shot (novice), the second is laser (normal), third is expert.

Go into the sound settings and turn the voice volume down to zero. You won't hear any of that crap after that.

I've heard the same from system11 and a few other forum members, but it feels fine to me. Somebody did observe pressing a single direction, pausing and unpausing, and then his ship finished moving afterwards.
