Neo-Geo.com online shop...reputable?

Post by MadSteelDarkness »

My apologies if this should have been posted in the Trading Station. Mods, please move if you see fit...

Anywho, the topic says it all. I've just become the proud papa of a Neo-Geo AES, and am looking for some carts for that bad boy (Samurai Spirits II will only last me so long). I've noticed quite a number of carts on N-G.com's online store, and while some prices seem a bit steep, some seem pretty reasonable.

So, anyone here bought from these guys? Good feedback? Horror stories? Please let me know. Thanks very much in advance.

Yeah, it's totally legit and was operating very smoothly. Months ago, Shawn, the owner there, had a WOW-fest and totally neglected sending orders for months but it should be OK now. Try searhing some posts on the board there. BTW, he only sends to confirmed Paypal addresses.

Being a more or less long time member of n-g.com, I wouldn't risk it personally. As long as I don't have strong and reliable feedback from several buying members, I wouldn't spend a cent in this shop. It's been so much of a "selling" chaos for months that I seriously wonder what's actually going on. Just figure out that many members had to wait until 4 months with no confirmation mail etc, no news at all.

It may be reliable now, but if you intend to spend what has to be spent in a Neo game, just be seriously aware of what's going on now.

I have ordered about 5 times in the past and have always had excellent service and success. I would not hesitate to order again.

yeah seems most disgruntled customers are non-us ones.

keeping in mind the prices for AES games i wouldnt risk it, there are plenty of AES sellers with a much better rep...

Definitely, for 99% of the games, you can easily find better prices elsewhere.

Agreed. I love SNK, and the Neo Geo, but I could never justify AES prices. It's quite retarded. Thousand or so for an AES Metal Slug (haven't priced them in a while though), 50 for MVS, and it's the EXACT same game. Keep in mind, these are GAMES, not down payments on a house. :( Neo Geo's great, but that's insane.

Can you give me a list of some of those sellers? I'm a bit of a noob at this whole N-G thing. Thanks in advance.

And thanks again to everyone who replied.

"Yamatoku" and "Hit-Japan" on ebay. Most reputable sellers ever. I've never been disappointed through the time, not a single time.

Congrats MSD, I bought my AES two years ago and still play on it every week.

I'm in Europe and never had any problems ordering from the Neostore but if you're looking for the more exclusive/expansive games it's maybe better to have a look around first.

Oh and despite what some may say, have a look around the NG forums, there's lots of helpfull info and people there.

I definitely advise to do business with n-g.com members on the forum. It's always been a smooth and friendly place to trade. Avoid the discussion topics though.

As far as sellers, I've had good luck with Arcade Shock and Japan Games Now. The best place is the neo-geo.com forum though.

I´d stay well clear of Neo-Geo.com. Seriously. As was mentioned earlier, Shawn went AWOL for a loong time, neglected his customers, and just didn´t give a sh*t.
When it comes to buying on the internet a lot of people, myself included, tend to get quite nervous after having transferred the funds, seeing them leave my account, and then...nothing. No confirmation mails, nothing.

They have the absolutely worst customer service on the planet.

There.

I'm selling my Neo Geo AES collection.

Anything you were looking for in particular?
Be attitude for gains:
1) Be praying...
2) Be praying...
3) Be praying...

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Well, just about anything shooty or pugilistic at the moment, except for Samurai Spirits II. Oh, and I'm looking for a SCART RGB cable as well.

Please shoot me a pm and let me know what you've got, what you want for it, and what it'll cost to ship to me from the UK. Oh, and I should also let you know that I don't have a paypal account, so I hope an International Money Order would be okay. Thanks in advance, jude. :D

Hmmm, maybe this should be moved to the Trading Station...
