I'm surprised why you could have done a thread like this a long while back, but hey, spread the word, lol. :3

Anyway - I like the idea but I'm one of those silly people who refuse get a YouTube account and get into the subscribing thing. To increase your subscriber base I think it would be more effective to (also) leave a post in one of the main discussion threads of the game that you are reviewing (Under Defeat HD is already covered). Your reviews are valuable as they cover aspects of STGs that typical mainstream reviews would never touch as many mainstream gamers would neither care nor understand. At the same time they are not 'hardcore' - so budding STG enthusiasts can easily learn the ins and outs of the genre from your reviews if they chose to. So posting about your reviews is less about "tooting your own horn" but more about making the information more visible.

Love your reviews!

For the Bullet Heaven #69 Episode with the PCE Magical Chase review, was it played on the real PCE/TG-16 hardware or with emulation? It's great to play the uber-rare TTI version of Magical Chase on the real TurboGrafx-16 console with a Turbo Everdrive flash cart setup. Easy as pie. No need to break the bank just to play it properly either on the real PCE or TG-16 hardware.

Of course, TTI went the extra mile with some slight comestic changes with their TG-16 swansong TurboChip MC release for the December 31st, 1993 retail release. From what I can recall, none of the speciality American gaming store chains like Electronics Boutique, Software Etc., Funcoland, Babbage's, (even the nationwide Kay Bee Toys retailer didn't sell it period) etc. got the TTI version of MC to sell at retail. It was distributed in limited numbers nationwide at the American Toys-R-Us stores in early February of 1994 with a paltry MSRP of $19.99 USD. In fact, it was regulated to the bargain bin at all of the TRU stores as they were blowing out their remaining TTI & TG-16 hardware/software on the cheap to make more room/retail space for the incoming SNES & Genesis software to promote/sell.

Later on in 1994 and into the 1995 timeline, it was the USA based mail-order business known as Turbo Zone Direct (located in Southern California) whom bought out the remaining TTI MC stock and sold it at their higher asking price of $39.99 USD (and yes, folks gladly paid that higher price without knowing that they could've gotten it cheaper at their local TRU retail locations). Those were the waning days of TTI and TG-16 hardware and software sold on the cheap in the mid-1990s.

I am still pretty new on here as well and these guys have been pretty accepting of me and my videos. Yes, I am the one and the same person from VideoGameRescue that talked with you on YouTube (when it comes to shmups, I wasn't kidding when I said it was a truly small world).

What I like about posting my stuff here is the amazing feedback I have gotten. I am much newer than you when it comes to videos on shmups, I have been doing them for almost 3 months now, but based on feedback, I have been able to twist these in to a style that I personally enjoy.

I guess I should not be surprised to see you in here as well since there are not that many of us doing reviews exclusively on shmups (I know that Classic Game Room will review shmups every now and again, but we both have shows exclusively for shmup reviews).

I personally like your videos because it gives me a glance at how others do their videos, plus it gives people variety since my style I have grown in to is completely different than how you do yours.

I'm a big fan of the show and like the idea of a dedicated thread.

More importantly though; when the heck are you going to tackle an R-Type game?

I think he'll do one someday, he mentions on his social stuff he'll do about 2 eps a week (I think), so yeah, hopefully that'll be steady enough. I too wait the day Ser does (more) CAVE and Neo-Geo shmup reviews on his channel. :3
