Hardware question about the original Famicom...
My question is-would a Famicom-to-NES converter work on the original Famicom? I know they do on the Famicom AVs, but the original Famicom has that eject switch, so I don't know if it would work.

Should be fine, the ejection levers are under the cart on the slot's sides.

OK, thanks! Is the orignial Famicom THIS hard to hook up to a TV?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg6_-xjGdko Honestly, the guy makes it sound like he had to perform heart surgery! If it is that hard, then I don't want one.eightbitminiboss wrote:Should be fine, the ejection levers are under the cart on the slot's sides.

Re: Hardware question about the original Famicom...
Japanese RF frequencies and NTSC modulation is not completely compatible with the American ones, so connecting a japanese Famicom to a US television set using a RF connection will always be a pain. Not even starting with questioning RF in particular.

Except, of course, in the case of an A/V Famicom, which you don't need RF plugs to use.

True, but that's a lot more expensive. It's too bad about the original Famicom, because I saw one on Ebay for $99.00-no yellowing, and complete in the original box.Ed Oscuro wrote:Except, of course, in the case of an A/V Famicom, which you don't need RF plugs to use.

If you go for an original Famicom, a proper AV mod is a must.
Re: Hardware question about the original Famicom...
My AV cost me about $100, no yellowing, complete in the original box...although that box is too small to hold a power brick, for some reason (I got one in an additional white box along with the auction, at no additional charge).dave4shmups wrote:True, but that's a lot more expensive. Where did you get it for that price, if you don't mind me asking?Ed Oscuro wrote:My AV cost me about $100, no yellowing, complete in the original box...although that box is too small to hold a power brick, for some reason (I got one in an additional white box along with the auction, at no additional charge).dave4shmups wrote:True, but that's a lot more expensive.
