4th 1cc GET!

Just 1cced Mushihimesama 1.5 Original on my very first time ever playing that mode. 1.5 is like ego booster mode. May be an easy clear, but yay for my first (non-iOS) Cave clear!

Definitely a setup issue. Delta controls impeccably on standard hardware.

Just 1cc-ed Otomedius Excellent, really easy game. Unfortunately it was my first time ever playing it through to the end, and so I didn't realize I needed more powerful weapons in order to kill a lot of the core bosses before they timed out.

Picked up Trouble Witches Neo last night. Not a bad game, but as with Deasthsmiles, it completely fails to engage me while I'm playing, my mind starts wondering elsewhere. Also some Chronoblast, which is the best indie shower I've ever played, an absolute steal at the price.

Kyuukyoku Tiger. The PS1 version is an impressive bit of work. Playing on that, then switching to MAME to record .inps, everything is the same down to the powerups' invisible colour-cycling schedule. Without its new Banpresto and Toaplan trademarks at the title screen replacing the old Taito one, I'd have a hard time differentiating them.

I just wish Uemura and co at Banpresto hadn't gotten cold feet about copyrights before they could do a Same disc. >_<

I'm in love with the powerup icons' pattern. It's so vexing but satisfying setting up a perfect rendezvous under constant fire.

One day when I was on lunch break, I saw the zigzag pattern in my donburi ramen and though, "this is it!", and hurried back to the office to code that pattern in for the items.
Greatest STG ramen ancedote ever (and that's saying something). If you think the powerups are running away from you, you're doin it wrong!

Almost got the Deasthsmiles clear last night, died on Tyrannothingy with bombs in stock which is annoying. Kind of getting the hand of scoring, but the game still doesn't grip me.

Got this plugged in the cab at the moment - so much more satisfying than Twin Cobra.

yep only after I played Street fighter on pc I could notice my d pad had a little problem. But I still think the problem is in R-Type Delta I need to know where appear the enemies. For example stage 2 with the big robo fishes. And in the 1st stage I have to keep my force with me with the big space ship mid boss before the mechanical worm. Oh even in stage 1 boss too
So I guess is the game mechanics. And this could be fair because the force and the delta special power helps you. Its a gr8 game to the player need to lose many times before beat stages. And some times lose in a easy way.

The stage 3 was amazing. I felt relieved to find the checkpoint!! I died before a lot of times. Thanks god the boss was easy.

This game is really awesome. The stage 4 with that lasers. omg im trying to find the stage 4 music theme on youtube and I can't find it. Galbadia is the key.
Stage 4 made me remember Border Down

Just played Kamui for the first time. I had been avoiding it since I didn't care for Reflex, but now I realize that was a mistake; Kamui is fucking awesome!

Also, a lot of Border Down. Garegga too, although I'm thinking I need a break from that one, since I'm not having fun with it at all right now, and and I reached my goal of "make it to stage 6" a couple months ago.

Any ideas on the third boss?

The first two aren't a problem as long as I don't try to milk them too much, but on the third, I have no idea how they want me to deal with those mass homing missiles, or that attack where a bunch of background mines from in front and behind fire a bunch of destructible missiles.

Just picked up Dangun Feveron and SDOJ for xbox. Dangun is a seriously fun and classy shooter, artistically it's as good as anything Cave have done. SDOJ is visually impressive and could not be a better surprise for region free reliants like myself. However it is just too hard for an everyday gamer like myself, and having played it back to back with DFK all night, it's the earlier game that plays better IMO. In fact the series has really run its course now. Goodbye donpachi.

I was playing Astro Avenger 2 yesterday, which, as far as Euroshmups go, is about as Euroshmuppy as you're going to get. 5 worlds, 10 'episodes' in each, with a shop after every stage and upgradable weapons/ships, etc..

http://youtu.be/ZFLSvIB9vx4

I played it on 'Pilot' (Normal) and cleared it on my first attempt, with 14 lives to spare at the end (it would have been 17 or 18 if I figured out earlier that only one of your weapons is effective against the final boss).

It took forever. With 50 levels, I think the play time was something like 3-4 hours, maybe more. Most of that time there's very little danger of you actually dying. As you can imagine, this gets slightly tedious after a while. The main danger of getting a game over is from falling asleep while playing...

The third boss is a lot more dangerous than the first two, it's normal to get some resistance from it. For its missiles (and missiles in general) you want to position the ship so the widest parts of the spread shot will intercept them. General idea from lte7's 27m run. The mines' position is influenced by your location on the screen when they're deployed - you can see in the above vid that lte ensures they're at the top of the screen so he can both avoid them and shoot down the missiles from safe distance. You don't want them being dropped behind or right on top of you!

Kamui is head and shoulders above RefleX and better than Alltynex Second too, imo. It's not that I dislike the latter two (I own all three) but the first game is most definitely Siter Skain's masterpiece and a first-rate shooter even by professional standards.

I don't know why, but Raiden 1 is more fun via Raiden Project. Is the sound really accurate? It is definitely much different than MAME, especially the second stage. The sound is nicer, but it also feels kinda spaced out, and some effects that are quite loud in MAME (i.e. the last few notes of the intermission sequence) are much quieter in Project.

Both ports on Raiden Project have slight inaccuracies with the PCBs' default difficulties, being a bit easier or a bit harder depending on the difficulty chosen (iirc, the second-highest is the former and the highest the latter). Wouldn't surprise me if the sound and music are a little different too.

Haha, just noticed the Bomb icons in Batsugun have the "donburi ramen" pattern too.

Been playing a bunch of Rapid Hero lately. Probably one of the (if not the) easiest STG by NMK. It's sooooo good though.

By the way, watch out for MAME 149 coming soon. Should have the music fixed ;)

Sengoku Ace

I've been trying to decide what I want to be my next 1cc and I can feel it with this one, I want to take it out. This game trolls like crazy though; so ridiculous that the powerups and bombs move faster vertically than you do. There doesn't seem to be much info on the forum regarding it though. Anyone know what the maximum bomb stock is? Also why are the bosses different sometimes? Like on stage 4, sometimes you get a purple boss, sometimes you get a yellow (seemingly harder) one. What are the conditions for that? Also it doesn't seem like it is going to be that brutal to 1cc it, it sure as hell is no SDOJ, but if any Psikyo vets out there have any tips for smooth 1cc acquisition, I'd love to hear them.
