Snes rgb image fade to black

Hi guys. I have a strange query. Just got myself an official nintendo rgb cable. When powering on the picture is bright and super sharp, then after a few seconds it fades to black. Tried a svideo cable and it works fine. Any ideas what the problem might be. Thanks in advance

Is that because of the cable being for the sfc rather than the pal snes?

for example. NTSC cables have capacitors, PAL ones don't. GameCube RGB cables are like NTSC SNES cables.

Thanks for the advice, looks like i need a sfc then unless a region modded pal machine would do the job.
