Looking for a 27" to 32" LCD display to go with XRGB Mini

Post by airs »

I'm looking for a display to use with an XRGB Mini that will have a number of 240p 60hz consoles connected to it (SNES, Saturn, Genesis, Jaguar, etc). I do enjoy playing vertical shmups so being able to put the monitor into portrait mode would be great, or if it had a VESA mount so I could pair it with a stand that pivots.

27" to 32"
Very good 60hz motion
Matte/glossy is fine but not glass
Low input lag when fed 60hz/720p and 60hz/1080p (720p included since I believe the XRGB mini still has issues with scanlines at 1080p)
Portrait mode (or vesa mount capability)

Currently I'm eyeing the ViewSonic VP2770 but that seems like overkill since I won't be utilizing it's native resolution.

Suggestions?

Not only overkill, but negating the key points of the upscaler, since that monitor would have to upscale a 1080p signal once again.

But then again the Mini outputs 720p with scanlines (not 1080p), so 1440p wouldn't be the worst monitor resolution......

Thanks for the responses guys. Would be great to get some recommendations and/or hear about experiences with certain LCDs when combined with the XRGB Mini.

the combination makes it complicated:

Dell S2740L: 27", IPS, cheap, ultra-low lag, VESA mount, but glossy
Asus MX279H, 27", IPS, cheap, ultra-low lag, matte, but no VESA mount

On the more expensive side there are a lot of great displays, but almost all of them have considerably more lag than the above ones.....

For use with the Mini you certainly don't need a 1440p display. Any 1080p one will do just fine.

Or what about the AOC I2757FM (or the AOC I2757FH - same but sans MHL support)?

Affordable, IPS, low lag according to reviews I've read, matte (or at least not glossy) but sadly no VESA mount :|
Got one just the other week and quite like it.
CHECKPOINT!

I think the Asus and the AOC are basically the same, at least they use the same panel.
