Well that post raised my eyebrows. He managed to dig deep in his gut and wrench it all out at once.

The industry doesn't want to keep its target audience, other wise 10's of millions of 50 year old blokes would be piling into Gamestop. The industry tries to reinvent the wheel hoping there are enough 20 year old's that were too young to buy the generation before. Thats precisely why games are regurgitated time and again.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Yes, but people use forums like this one to get people on side so it doesn't happen.

Greed will flourish and fuck everything up if nobody does anything about it. Inform yourself, don't buy things that break your rights. Boycott EA and Ubisoft. Don't buy an Xbox One. Etc.

I won't be buying at those prices.

Must be a place holder or something as they are the same prices

edit : Amazon is only putting these up as pre order prices. The prices will go down and they offer a cheapest price match on day of release.
That being said, definitely expect the dollar prices to be directly translated to pound prices, fucking the UK yet again. I notice the PS4 has more likes than the Xbone.

Key point, often missed.

If you don't like it, don't buy it - watch it burn until you do like it.

The real problem is that everybody is going to buy it anyway. At least it's consistent.

I don't even entertain the idea that an important enough mass is going to have second thoughts about going ahead and buying this thing, maybe not even if World War III breaks out.

If the pricing is reasonable, of course they will.

I made an experiment today. I'm working in the IT business (development). Today I asked about 8 guys, whom i know they play games, what they think of the new XBOX. They all had seen the announcement video and read some articles about it.

They all thought that the new Xbox One was amazing and will be the best console ever.

So I think that we are all doomed. If even IT-guys don't care about this stuff chances are pretty low that anyone will...

Let's see what the PS4 will bring to the table.

Good! Great even!

Let Bill Gates destroy current gaming completely and force Sony and Nintendo to downsize and focus on domestic territory again. Nintendo aren't going to bend to all that multimedia bullshit, and Sony are probably getting fed up too.

I'd love them to leave the North American market for dead and get back to giving Japan what it wants, focusing all energies there. That should help Japanese game development to find a new voice, and encourage 2D resurgences. It might even bring new electronic giants into the arena further down the road: perhaps NEC can make a comeback. Kill the old revolution to begin the new, put gaming back where it belongs! :D

I'm sure that this console will be a sales success, and that in the future the other console makers will follow the same model. Most people don't really care about DRM and just want more cinematic crap and useless gadgets, and this console promises exactly that.

The future of marketing lies into customization and personalization of products. Currently, there are consoles that are trying to address the needs of an evolving and complex market that is being divided into niche consumers more and more. With the ever growing demand for entertainment it wouldn't surprise me if one of this days we get a real console made for people like us who like retro and arcade stuff. Ouya, the steam box... all of this new experiments are trying to fill the gap of this niche market....

I'm not saying that it will happen with tje examples I mentioned or that it will happen soon but I have hope in what I described above.

Haven't seen it mentioned here: A few days ago, Shuhei Yoshida officially stated that PS4 won't have used-game DRM and that it is left to publishers, the same as it was for PS3, and that Sony's games won't be using this type of DRM (and no forced-online DRM either). I suppose that means EA games will have to be completely avoided next gen, thought that shouldn't be too difficult (the last time EA got any of my money was for Dead Space 2).

In other news, there is some specualtion that PS4's bill of materials could be cheaper than Xbone's (mostly due to Kinect 2), so it could actually end up being cheaper than Xbone (unless MS subsidize it).

One week to go until e3, it's going to be interesting this year.

LOL, hobbled in price by Kinect, hobbled in performance by DDR3 versus GDDR5. *rubs grubby mitts together with glee*

By the way, I was wondering if somebody from Destructoid has been lurking the forum...don't recognize the movie still, though, so maybe there's some context to it I don't know.

Other quite probably good news in a totally different sphere. Fuck Prey (the finally released game, that is) and fuck Human Head Studios.

can you change the thread title to "Xbox One - Shitty console for retards (buy a PS4 and VITA)"? the current one seems too unbiased

You are right, using only one direct quote by Microsoft in the title could indeed be construed as partial because several important features/criteria of Xbox One are omitted that way.

Replaced by a summary of the press conference and what we learned later that day. Unfortunately there was no more space to also mention "watercooler" and the Call of Duty dog.

What games should make me care for the Xbox One in the first place? Given a decent PC, am I going to miss anything important?

Bonus question: how easily will cracked Xbox One games run on PCs?

No shmups, hopefully.

Interesting question. But as you probably know, Xbox 1 (I mean the first Xbox 1) games could never be run directly on a PC, either.
