Interesting. Play-asia is allowing people to purchase all three versions again.

Glad to hear that the 360 mode actually has some gameplay depth to it that makes it attractive for reasons other than the "story." Wasn't really expecting that!

Any experienced players had a chance to dip into Version 1.5 yet? Any impressions?

Can anyone confirm me if the CDs included in the LE and the SLE have different catalog numbers? (they should have something like CVAS-), and the catalog number of the single CD too if possible.

What is the control scheme like with the 360 SDOJ port? On the actual SDOJ PCB, it's an 8-way digital joystick + 3 button scheme at best (whereas with Cave's earlier DDP-DFK PCB release in all it's version 1.0, 1.5, 1.51 & Black Label flavored variants was with an 8-way digital joystick + four push button scheme easily).

Apparently I counterstopped 360 mode.

(I most definitely did not counterstop 360 mode.)

What's up with the leaderboards? haha

Yeah, people around me with replays on the leaderboard have MUCH higher actual scores (displayed when you download the replay). 16bil+ compared to my super-shitty 7.2 on st4.

GJ CAVE. THANKS FOR THE EGO BOOST. I'm taking my score back down to 10/10 for this port until that gets fixed. =P haha The game's still fucking AMAZING, but this LB shit is fucking funny. I haven't checked if it affects any of the other modes. Someone more competent than me want to get on that?

How many players are there at leaderboards?

Wow. The last time I checked the leaderboards for the 360 mode was 10 hours ago and the highest I saw was 130bil.

Thanks for the 411 on that lil' nugget of info, CptRansom. It'll come in handy when setting up my HRAP EX-SE indeed.

Whoa, counteredstopped on 360 mode with Stage 4? Surely, Cave'll release a patch to fix that issue.

No clue. I thought it might've been some kind of cumulative thing, but I definitely haven't played a trillion points worth of 360 mode (yet).

Anybody know what Score Attack (Team) is yet?

There was something that Cave talked about in an interview about having scheduled score attack trials that involve teams of people, not entirely dissimilar from something like STGT. From an old interview:
—I'd like to ask a bit more in detail about each of those last three things you mentioned. Let's start with the team scoring mode... last time we talked you mentioned this would be a kind of team event?

Asada: That's right. We'll be dividing players into groups, and within a set time they'll compete with other teams for the best cumulative score. Microsoft has helped out on this a lot, and we actually had already begun working on it at our last interview. At first we thought about dividing the teams up based on prefectures, but the populations were too uneven, so instead people will be randomly assigned to a team among 5 to 6 blocks.

—How long will each scoring period last?

Asada: We haven't fully decided yet, but probably around 1-2 weeks. We want to give special prizes to the teams that win, like limited edition gamer icons... things you can only get through these events.

—Will these events be held at regular intervals?

Asada: Yes, as much as possible. Since its team scoring, anyone can contribute, even in a casual way. STG is a genre where the difference in skill is very apparent, so we wanted to do something to ameloriate that. And we'd also like to make a Cave Team. (laughs) Since our team would be so small, we'd multiply our scores by 10, but those teams which beat our scores would get special presents.

I would hope they weren't stupid enough to stop the leaderboard at 999,999,999,999 considering people have broken a trillion in the arcade.

I'm sure there'll be some people playing on the port that will be able to do it.

In the non-fixed Arcade version, yeah, I hope so. But for the new 360 and 1.5 modes, I don't believe they have the score bug so reaching a trillion is probably impossible.

Gave 1.5 a whirl. I'm not sure of all the differences, but it definitely seems much more difficult than 1.0 (or I'm just really really bad... which I'm not ruling out).

Thanks for the interview snippet, Keres. That's interesting! Kinda wish we could make our own teams, but I guess that'd end with some superplayers monopolizing the "prizes" and everyone else just giving up, lol.

Is Nin-Nin Game reliable? I put in an order a while ago, and have not received any confirmation of shipping, just still at status "payment accepted". Hopefully paying with Paypal did not cause any problems.

That's actually a pretty cool idea! I'm (cautiously) assuming that western players will be just as eligible to participate as those in Japan?

Is there a scoring system and mode differences breakdown anywhere? So far I've just heard about enemy values and hyper charge rate being changed in 1.5, as well as always fighting at least hibachi I believe. I could see that being enough to increase the difficulty noticeably but I'm wondering if there are further changes.

Well when konami had e-amuse stuff for 2DX sorted by region, in addition to all of the prefectures there was a choice for something like "outside of Japan." May have even been one specifically for the US...probably not though.

Either way they said that they weren't going to go with prefectural grouping in that article.

This worries me then. I immediately put in an order as soon as they announced on FB the game was available. No updates, no communication. No reply from an inquiry.

For those of you who have the game, the number in the corner in X360 mode is your life, bomb, and super laser all rolled into one, right? What happens when you get down to 1 and try to user the laser? Does it not let you, or can you continue using it and take the risk that your next hit will kill you?

From the bottom of the last page:
CptRansom wrote:The 360 mode is super-fun. The number at the top right measures how much of your powered-up laser you have left. The powered-up laser makes hypers charge really fast, and then you need to hyper to get the number back up. Obviously this drives up rank. Hella fun. I don't know how I got rid of the talking heads in 360 mode, but they aren't there for me. I'm grateful.
It has nothing to do with lives. When it runs out, you go back to a normal laser and your hypers charge at a normal rate. You only have one life in 360 mode. Die and it's game over. There are no extends.

Bombs cost 1500 from "the number" and autobombs cost 2000. So if you're under 2000 and get hit, you're dead.

I guess this is why people are saying 360 mode is so easy? If you don't use laser much, but hyper to keep that number at 10k, you're sitting on 5 autobombs at any given time. If you're pushing score, however, you're going to be riding 0 quite often. Double-laser to deplete the number and get quick hypers, hyper to build hits/score and replenish the number, then start over.

Ah, I was wondering if you could ride 1 for extra hyper. This way is probably better - it encourages people to use hyper reasonably soon, instead of hoarding them for several stages.

I'm excited to get this in the mail, and for people to start playing for score. Will be interesting to see who triggers the score bug, and how far people go without.

Well, the fun part is that if you hoard them for a bit, you're going to get a faster recharge of your double-laser off a higher-ranked hyper as well as more hits/score. It's a fun risk-reward system. I don't know if the main game has difficulty increase from shot to laser type (duh, expert), but 360 mode definitely has a step up. Even Shot mode gets brutal if you push for score. I entered stage 5 just now at Rank 30 and uh... it did not go well for me.

Seriously, 360 mode is VERY fun, and I hope people don't simply write it off because of the talking. Just turn off the voices (and remember to hit shot after bosses die so that it skips a bunch of dialogue before going to the results screen).
