I also remember on some of the Cave ports, you could actually change the amount of slowdown you wanted when lots of things happens on-screen.

You and everyone else it seems. I shunned it in favour of BL originally, but I've been playing 1.5 a lot recently and I have its system down now (and Roo is right, it's not about cancelling or your Hyper rank increases and bullets become quickly resilient - that will kill you good n' dead even on mid-bosses.)

I do understand why people don't click with DFK though. Its system and application are pretty abstruse, and something feels slightly off for a DDP game when you're playing for score, since abstaining from Hyper usage for half a stage is an unusual way to claim digits. Also chain breaks in DFK happen for a variety of extremely aggravating reasons.

I'd say it's by far the most convoluted DDP, but by no means a bad game. Maybe just a whisker off of the intended goal, and that resonates with players.

SDOJ is meant to be a return to more straightforward danmaku bliss.
Does this mean you've no longer feeling the daifukkatsu meh?
Yes! :)

Basically the meh was thawing out by the end of the original thread anyway, if you remember (Icarus came over and did some much needed demonstrations which gave me a different perspective.) However, from a completely objective critical standpoint, I do understand why it's difficult for people to click with, and I consider that a fault of Ikeda's system really: he could have worked out a way to make it more approachable and enjoyable. If you play like a novice it's boring, play for score and it's slightly irritating. It's one of the most convoluted Cave games I've ever played, which doesn't really suit the Pachi series.

The game would like halve its speed whenever you used the laser shot as Reco in Futari Black Label. Makes it really easy.

I'm pretty sure there was an interview at some point where it was said that Ikeda didn't have time to work on DFK before it was released. Can't be arsed to find it.

IIRC when he did work it was to add Zatsuza, not the most popular part of DFK.

Funny about the added slowdown, but I'm not surprised, DFK had absurd slowdown on 360, it actually makes me wonder if the console is that bad with sprites or if there's just no optimization.

I'm not on that website, but I'm not ashamed to not wait for a game shipping in SAL and get a first look at the game.
Anyways, if you're not buying the game, you're not getting the replay and leaderboard feature, which is pretty big in my book.
(You're also not supporting Cave first hand, so you know you're part of the problem, and aren't helping them survive/expend/make iOS games :p)

About abgx360, I use their verified page all the time what english games (pal/Asia/jp) I can buy to run on my jp system.

To anyone who's got the LE/SLE soundtrack CD, can you check if there's a zatsuza.wav in there?

there's just an extra track for the menu screen. the rest is arranges of all the arcade tracks.

it seems there's no requirements for hi/inbachi in 360 mode, as they appeared after i continued.

judging from the training menu there's no inbachi in novice mode.

Played for a little while tonight and I'm pleasantly surprised with this port. There's a lot of game here that will keep people busy for a while.

I have a fair amount of experience with the PCB and I think this is a pretty accurate port. There might be slightly more slowdown when triggering a hyper, but I would need to do a side-by-side comparison to see any real differences. I haven't played the game in at least six months and felt like a newborn again, but I managed to get #1 on the leaderboards on my first try so I'll enjoy that while it lasts.

The 360 mode is much more interesting than I thought it'd be. Didn't really get the hang of it completely, but it's all about scoring and very easy for survival. They only give you one life though, so that's cool. I also got #1 on the leaderboards with my one credit, so it's nice to get that in before someone who knows what they're doing tries it out.

I did one of the "challenges" and while I like the idea of this mode, they should have thought of more creative objectives than "get all the bees in stage 1".

The shop is a great idea because it'll inflate review scores for the game and get more people to buy it, like with Mars Matrix for Dreamcast.

Based on my quick play-through tonight, this gets a thumbs up.

I don't see how this is any of your business, but if it'll end your fixation with me: I've had a 360 for 4 years. Why wouldn't I have one? It's where most shoot 'em ups went this gen. After the region lock was hacked and RRoD was finally fixed for good, there was no reason not to get one. Guess what, I also have an Xbox 1 (not to be confused with Xbone).

You can't blame me for wondering dude. You never mentioned playing any game on the 360, never posted anything except Vita and PS games in the stuff you bought thread, never posted a single 360 shmup score in the HS section or discussed strats, and spent a large portion of time railing on it for not being region free, how XBL is criminal for its fee, and how you wouldn't support such a console.

Honestly, after all you've said with regard to it, I have to take your four year ownership declaration with a pinch of salt. You mentioned recently (in this thread) that you owned all the Cave ports, so that means you have Japanese console - but I'm sure when discussing the benefits of PS3 region free-ness, you said you were dead against having to import something to play selected games.

No big deal, it just doesn't compute that you preordered the SDOJ SLE based on your comments.

So uh... this is the best fucking game ever so far.

The 360 mode is super-fun. The number at the top right measures how much of your powered-up laser you have left. The powered-up laser makes hypers charge really fast, and then you need to hyper to get the number back up. Obviously this drives up rank. Hella fun. I don't know how I got rid of the talking heads in 360 mode, but they aren't there for me. I'm grateful.

The shop is a nice touch. The challenges are going to keep me busy for quite a while. I can't wait to dig into all of it!

11/10
