Arcade Forge Arcade Stick Project

Post by bencao74 »

Hey,

currently I`m working on a project that combines my experiences building Arcade Sticks. I`ve made several dozen customs and mods and finally I put together a new design.

This work was mainly influenced by the former project fatalitiy, which I was doing with Necrodus, a nice guy from greece.

A revised version was done on a custom hitbox "spruce".

Finally I added a stronger CPO and mixed aluminium and Acryl. So this is the project right now.

it has this parts
- Seimitsu and Sanwa Buttons
- Sanwa JLF stick unit
- Fight Stick enclosure made from Acryl and Alumunium
- USB Neutrik Plug
- Aluminium Feet
- Extra Flat Design
- Link stick mod

So, what're my plans? :)

I want to offer this stick design on Arcade Forge and it should be configurable. I`m thinking of making a wooden design, too.

Further I was thinking to make a MAK Supergun controller for my mak supergun project. Such kind of controller will come then with dusb 15 plug and with 3, 4, or 6 buttons.

What do you guys think?

Very nice design. What consoles are supported?

I assume that the screw of the stick are belowe the acryl so it has a smooth surface? What is the thickness of the aluminium + acrylic? Will it be possible to mount different sticks in it?

I`ve made the Dual Strike PCB with IVIphisto and this one is offered in my shop. This one supports PC, ps3, xbox1 and has a piggyback connector for padhacks. For that I`m able to make a good combined option. Hence other encoder could be used. For the neogeo only wire to wire is needed. I`ve used a controller PCB bar sheet in project fatality. So the controller is open here.

The screws are countsunk and the edges will be rounded and polished.

Image

I`m working here with my plexi supplier who mades such finishing stuff.

The Aluminium sheet will have some universal drillings. How the stuff works can be seen here. Here I`ve made an acryl universal mounting plate. It never made it to t he shop. But anyway... LS32, Ls56, jlf and others.

The acrylic/metal combo stick is very nice looking. If this has a reasonable price point I'll buy one.

Haha, word. So, bencao, did you think that the tek-case didn't offer something you thought should be on the market? Just curious.

Currently I`m working on some option like MAK supergun connector, PCB shelf and the price. Addtionally I`m thinking of making a wood option.

"Unfortunately" I`ve started a bartop project at same time, that slows down process here.

Just pointing out it's been done already. It would of been better to see the effort put into a completely new project, rather than rehash what art has already done.

I`ve worked with all kinds of material : Aluminium, Steel, Wood, MDF, Leather, Acryl and so on.

Project Fatality was the first Acryl Stick I was doing with Necrodus anno 2010

http://bencao74.blogspot.de/2010/07/eur ... ality.html

He died then some weeks after by car accident coming from a SF dojo. I put then our old Acryl Stick Design in my archive. After two years I put it again on my desk and made a complete re-design. I don't know, but my design is far away of other Arcade Sticks designs.

Hello from Germany,
excuse my bad english
I own one of the prototype acryl arcade sticks from bencao. I like it very much. It´s very solid and has a good weight. It is smaller than a Madcatz TE, but I don´t like so big equipment
Here are some pics of my stick with parts and artwork:

Looks great! I like the led modding :)

Just ordered the parts for the next 10 pcs.

This time I`ve made version with 4 Button Neogeo layout with DSUB15 connector for my Supergun MAK Strike as well as some dreamcast sticks ;)

Bencao, always good to see new stuff from you. I've been using your SLG3000 in my shmups bartop for years and I still love it. Your new plexi stick case design is pretty swell as well; I might order one from you for my supergun. Question is, could/ would you be willing to do one in black plexiglass? Would this be affordable?

Hey Thanks :) I'm working with several pieces in different strength. I don't know if my supplier has all parts in black for the needed strength.

At least the top and the bottom could be made with black acryl.

Alternative could be a top metal plate lacquered in black with a clear acryl faceplate. Should be also looking awesome.

Mh, I had no idea. Ripping off other people's designs without even mentioning they're not yours is not exactly gentlemanly.

These Sticks are simply amazing, I was informed me to buy all spares and completely build mine but it was very expensive.
I chose it because I didn't found any way to play with a 1L6B joystick on my Supergun, it means via DB-9 connect but it seems to me it doesn't exist with that.
Anyway, all of the websites that I checked about it, suggested only console wires connect.

Maybe I looked wrong and a supplier for DB-15 exists but I didn't found it, I could do it myself but I'm not enough handyman for it.
I thought that was only a work assembly but it seems it needs some skills more.

I admit that's the best custom sticks we can ever own but it needs time, equipment and budget.

I knew a guy who made some of these sticks to resell it; including all spares, working hours, required equipment, he sold it double when the stick was finished.
That's apparently common to do it, other people who did it too, proceeded in the same way, so we may get custom home made prestigious stick from 400€ to... No limit in fact !

I always regretted to not being at least a bit handyman and I am in admiration in front of your work, Bencao74, DKMettal & co... Congratulations, this is really wonderful!

4 joystick directions + 6 buttons + ground = 11 wires minimum. A DB9 connector doesn't have enough pins.

DB15 is pretty standard for superguns, as it allows you 6 buttons, plus some extras for coin or start if you need.

Not sure if I understood you correctly... just in case you were looking for DB15 connectors:

http://such001.reichelt.de/index.html?; ... tnr;SHOW=1

And here's a cable you can use to connect your sticks e.g. to a supergun:

http://www.reichelt.de/Sub-D-Kabel/AK-0 ... tnr=AK+012

Don't pay the ridiculous prices some idiots on Ebay ask... btw I'm drunk as shit so nobody expect me to make sense please
