OK, I just updated my secondary Vita to the latest FW and then had a look around the Playstation Store. Works very well, just like I remember it from 4 months ago. Seems to me that whatever problems were introduced by intermediate firmwares (which I never experienced because I didn't use PSN on PSV since January) don't exist anymore.Ganelon wrote:One surprising benefit of the latest optional Vita patch is that all online aspects (store, browser, and checking for updates) seem to be faster.

PS3 version download works fine. Vita version doesn't, lots of other people reporting the problem.BulletMagnet wrote:I DLed it last night via PS3 without any problems...could something else be causing the problems on your end?ZellSF wrote:Pinball Arcade still not available. You would think that 48 hours would be enough time to upload the right file to a server. Hell you would think 48 minutes would be enough.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Great news, Rayman Legends has been confirmed for PS Vita today. Origins is fantastic on PSV, so I'm looking forward to this.

I'll like to hear opinions on wich version of Dragons Crown would you buy.
I am not sure if the Vita version is going to be as playable as the ps3 but the idea to play it on the go is a must.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
That's a really tough decision.
Advantages of the PS3 version: 4 player local co-op, probably more players online.
While savegames can be exchanged between PS3 and Vita, cross play is not possible (=if you play the Vita game online, you can only play against other Vita players; same for the PS3 version).
RRP for the Vita version is $39.99 USD, PS3 version will retail for $49.99.
Ideally I'd like to have both, but I think I'll go for the Vita version first. Having this game available on the go outweighs the possibility of local multiplayer imo.
Too bad that Atlus isn't going for cross-buy (buy a physical PS3 copy, get the Vita PSN version for free). I can understand their point of view; they simply can't afford to give it away. Dragon's Crown is pretty niche as it is, and they have said that "the game has a lot more depth than its 16-bit spiritual brethren. It looks and plays better than a $15-$20 game."

Limited time to play at home so Vita it is for Dragons Crown.
Where the hell is Hotline Miami for Vita? It's due this month so i'm hoping it's today - played and finished the PC version over and over, will happily play it again and again on the Vita.
Sound track is godlike.

I'm still undecided on which version of Dragon's Crown to buy. I'd rather have it on the PS3 (bigger screen, larger community, it'll probably run, look, or play better, etc.), but I'd probably play it more often on the Vita because HDCP makes hooking up my PS3 a nuisance. That's just me, though.

Toshihiro Nagoshi confirms that Yakuza is coming to Vita:
I wonder if it`s a brand new installment or just a port of one of the PS3 games(which would still be totally cool, of course - especially if it`s Kenzan or RgG5). Kurohyou 3, perhaps?Elsewhere in the interview, Nagoshi was asked if Yakuza was coming to the PS Vita. The game producer replied affirmatively, once again acknowledging how the series has been born and bred on PlayStation hardware.

That is very cool, but my concern would be that the controls on the Vita aren't quite equivalent to the DualShock 4? Vita only has 2 shoulder buttons for example ...Friendly wrote:Pretty cool news: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... -ps4-games

PS Vita does it this way:

It also allows you to assign buttons to the touch screen.

Which probably really means that it's a lot more shallow and has a lot more filler, like all Vanillaware games.Friendly wrote:and they have said that "the game has a lot more depth than its 16-bit spiritual brethren. It looks and plays better than a $15-$20 game."

I want Pinball Arcade on my Vita
Sony's aware of the problem so maybe they'll get around to it next week or something.
Vita's game selection is getting so very very weird. In a good way, of course.

Getting close. There's a beta patch on Steam, password 'hlm'. It's a non-Gamemaker version (most likely the code the PS3/Vita versions are based on).Where the hell is Hotline Miami for Vita? For all this week, Amazon will be offering a $50 credit with the purchase of a Vita. The deal ends just a couple days before E3. It looks like an official price-drop for at least North America may be happening at E3 after all.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Target's offering a $50 Target card with a Vita purchase this week, too, so it sounds like you're right on (pun only partially intended...), ahem, target.Cuilan wrote:For all this week, Amazon will be offering a $50 credit with the purchase of a Vita. Seriously, though: that hardware was priced too high to start with. Even now, I'm thinking that I won't be buying one without some kind of "helper" (i.e. sweep win which gives me a gift card to somewhere). There just isn't that much on there that I actually want, though I fully admit that the Tempest thing is very eyebrow-raising.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Vita is getting Virtue's Last Reward for free next month in PS Plus. Why did I buy any Vita games again?
Non-DS owners with iOS device(s) might want to wait for the English release of 999 in Q3/Q4 to play that first.
Still no Pinball Arcade for me

999`s story in a nutshell: morphogenesis, prosopagnosia, Titanic, Ice-9. And I keep hearing that VLR has even more bullshit crammed into it.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Everything about 999 makes sense in its setting. VLR, not so much.
Edit: also did you play 999? Because one of the words you listed has nothing to do with the plot.

re: Price - well, it didn't seem that bad at launch initially and it certainly forced Nintendo to drastically rethink their price, but the problem is that add on extras not included.
The whole not-including-a-memory-card thing was absolutely dumb - caused way too much confusion and hides a huge chunk of cost.
The price of the memory cards? now there's some grade A nonsense.

Well, yes and no. I fully agree with you on the add-on nonsense and that it drives the cost of the thing up into the stratosphere. That wasn't my point so much, though.dcharlieJP wrote:re: Price - well, it didn't seem that bad at launch initially and it certainly forced Nintendo to drastically rethink their price, but the problem is that add on extras not included.

I have no issue, really, with the seeming quality of the hardware being offered, though the 3G thing, in retrospect, does seem a bit bass-ackwards now, doesn't it? I think that the initial launch prices were (and, I guess, are) a bit harsh on the wallet for a portable system with limited (and pricey purchasable) memory for many necessary functions. Had both systems clocked in at $50 lower, I'd be more understanding, indeed.
My *biggest* problem, however, is that from the very beginning, even prelaunch, there were basically *zero* titles that even moderately piqued my interest. Prime examples of such games for the PSP would include Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins (especially when I heard that Tokuro Fujiwara was on board for its design) and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. When those were announced, I knew...I absolutely *knew* I was buying that system, beyond a shadow of a doubt. The system, and those games, would all be mine, brand spanking new (and yes, Gamestop: *I* would be the one removing the shrink-wrap from those new games, thank you very much...), and I was just going to have to bite the bullet.
It's (the Vita, now) a sexy little piece of hardware with (now almost) nowhere to go. I'd say "Nowhere to go but up", but I fear that that's a blatant lie. I would very, very much like to have even *one hard media-based, solid game* that compels me to go out and buy the thing, but for now, it's just too expensive, not just for too little, but also for too little promise for the future.
While my PSP could die today and it wouldn't owe me one red cent (*please don't*, my lovely little gym workout cardio toy...), I can't see a future in which I wouldn't look at the Vita with accusing eyes, wondering why I let a few hundred dollars of my money be wasted on such a useless whim.
I *really* hope I'm wrong, and that I'm going to be proven wrong, soon. It just hasn't happened yet, and at the prices it's still going for, I don't see it happening any time soon.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I don't particularly disagree - I personally love the Vita and i think the line up is pretty darned good at the moment, however that's due to a few factors : i skipped a few of the ports on consoles, i tend to play more on the go, and the price wasn't so much of a concern for me - but i'm not the game buying public and that really has spoken. The killer title just isn't there and time is likely to run out completely. Unless Sony hit a Hail Mary on a game we don't know about (unlikely) or have somehow got Capcom to give them MH4th then here in Japan it's going to trudge along - miiight get a new lease of life depending on the PS4 but can't see it. The big damage comes once MH4 drops here.boagman wrote:Well, yes and no. I fully agree with you on the add-on nonsense and that it drives the cost of the thing up into the stratosphere. My other , possibly slightly distasteful, hope is that if the Vita is to die off that we get the system cracked open so that it can at least go out as an amazing homebrew/emu box along side the Vita lineup.
On the same page on PSP. Amazing machine - favourite Sony machine to date in fact.

Random bump. Still not getting Sony's memory card strategy, on expensive as hell 32 GB cards I'm supposed to store
Vita also needs some turn-based strategy, thankfully Frozen Synapse Tactics is not vaporware like I thought it was. Vita is apparently lead platform which is promising. More info coming soon apparently.
Want Muramasa, but it's sort of competing with Dragon's Crown. Why would I spend lots of money on a port of Vanillaware's previous game when they're releasing a new game in little over a month? These two titles should not be released so close together.
Time to play more Hotline Miami. More games need to be cross-buy and cross-save. And transferring PSX saves between PS3 and Vita should be doable wirelessly, preferably over the cloud.
PSX games look and run perfectly on the Vita despite being an emulator in an emulator. Sort of expected some messiness because of that, pleasantly surprised.
Still waiting to be able to get Pinball Arcade, one month it's taken them... I hope they're fixing it in today's maintenance, but I doubt it.

Fun thing to think about: Hotline Miami serves as yet another example people can use when they say the Vita is just for terrible indie games.
Yes there's apparently a significant number of people who think indie games are bad by default.
At least I can understand people who don't want to buy a portable for ports, but hating games based on how small their budget is? Depressing.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I'm thinking of getting a Vita.....sometime........
What's the situation on SIM lock for 3G models? Is there a way to carrier-unlock these yet? It might not be too relevant though. First of all the 3G model is not sold in my backwater country, and there is no such thing as a pre-paid data plan which expires when the balance runs out instead of after 30 days which is complete bullshit.
It's a feature that might become useful in 30 years when (more like if) Canada finally catches up to South Africa in their mobile service.
I suppose I could import one from Hong Kong, but... $460 Jesus Christ.
Have you guys been fine just using WiFi? I think I can get a 2nd-hand WiFi unit for $150 if I am lucky, or I could wait a bit longer for a new one if a price drop is on the way.
Now about games. The main thing I want is Ys IV when it is released in North America. Dragon's Crown looks mildly interesting. Anything else I should look for?

^ 3G has become a really redundant model as I understand. Just go wifi.
Also, that HK quote is absurd. They were about £130 when I was there last month.

Yea, that price was taken from the 3G Asian version on yesasia who are known to have ridiculous prices on their hardware, although the Japanese 3G version is cheaper than BestBuy somehow.
So I guess I can stick to the plan A of picking up a local 2nd-hand WiFi version sometime in the next 4 or 5 months if I am not losing out on anything important not having 3G.
I suppose if I got one now, I have cross-buy with Motorstorm RC on PS3 to keep me entertained for an hour or two...
