Actually I'm tempted to say yes it was region-free, at least I think I recall the NTSC-U version working on unmodded PAL Xboxes (is that what you are trying to do?). Unfortunately my memory is a bit hazy on this, but if nobody else can post confirmation in the next few days I might be able to dig out my disc and test it for you...

You sir, are correct. I was substituting "region free" with "backwards compatible".Thunder Force wrote:Actually I'm tempted to say yes it was region-free, at least I think I recall the NTSC-U version working on unmodded PAL Xboxes (is that what you are trying to do?). I don't mean to divert this thread, but Xyanide Resurrection was just released for the JPPS2. Is this a completely new and different game from the XBox version, or it this some kind of Xyanide Remix/Championship/Super edition that "enhances" the original XBox game? Help please, as I'm thinking about ordering this. Thanks!

Xyanide for the XBOX is completely different than Xyanide Resurrection for the PS2. Xyanide has gorgeous CG as well as in game backgrounds. It feels like your playing Robotron but you get a sense that your moving throughout the environments due to the beautiful scrolling backgrounds. Xyanide Resurrection doesn't have any CG nor do you get the sense that your moving threw the levels. The backgrounds are beautiful in Xyanide Resurrection but not scrolling as Xyanide. In fact the ship is just affixed to the center of each level while you just position the cockpit N,S,E,W to find the enemies. Xyanide Resurrection's level layout is similar to the Darius series where you choose the pathway to reach the end in a pyramid sort of selection screen.I've only played a couple levels of both games and it seems the XBOX game is a much more enjoyable experience. Oh and to answer you question Ceph, there is no 60Hertz selector in Xyanide Resurrection.

Incompatible with US 360 as well, you'll have to keep an XBox around for it.Kollision wrote:I got the US game. Incompatible with my JPN 360.

Don't forget, there is a 480p patch for this game for those using component cables w/ modded consoles. Just google for it.
