People buying the regular edition are just more sensible with their money.
Who needs OSTs taking up space and stickers one will never use? No one, that's who.

Not to mention, someone will probably rip the content of the OSTs and encode/compress them to FLAC/MP3.ptoing wrote:People buying the regular edition are just more sensible with their money.![]()

I realized I didn't need any more LEs after I bought my first one for mushihimesama HD. I still haven't opened the OST and probably never will. The extra box is kind of an added nuisance too.

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
CDs are a horrible format. If CAVE released their OSTs on vinyl (or even MC) then I might be interested
Nah I've got nothing against spending £30 on a LE to show my support but £100+++ is a bit rich given the company is just going to fold straight after
Will be playing the port this weekend. Haven't played a 'new' CAVE game since the DFK-BL port more than two years ago, wow.

True, although I don't see why a limited edition isn't a valuable commodity in itself if it makes the owner feel good about it.ptoing wrote:People buying the regular edition are just more sensible with their money.![]()

If you want to see people who really aren't sensible with their money, check out the 'double dippers' in the Ketsui PS3 thread who have pledged to buy the exact same game twice: no frills included.

Yeah, I am ok with people getting whatever they want, I just do not see the value personally. What with the wink and all.
Getting the same game twice for the same system is just dumb. I guess they want to keep one sealed and one for playing?

I think with double dippers he means buying on 360 and PS3 .
Could be worse though, some maybe have all six versions although Mame is free of course .

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
Firstly, of all the people who made a preorder with us, there was only 1 person who complained and blamed us and expected us to make a loss on it, so I assume that's enjirube. He said he could get one from Japan for £110 but it's hardly fair to compare our prices in England including VAT to a price in Japan but anyway, for anyone who thinks we've pulled a fast one, here's exactly how I see it and how it unfolded for us:
Firstly, I honestly believe that these Super Limited Editions were never originally intended to go to retail stores in Japan. I think they were intended to be an exclusive for the Cave website, but as that closed and Cave had already bought all the steel boxes, they needed an outlet and put them on general sale.
The game was offered on preorder form our supplier. We put the game up for preorder. That's how we always do it. The website says we'll take a deposit but we never took a single deposit from anyone through our website. We later got told that there might be cuts with the Super Limited Edition. Obviously we had no idea of what the cuts would be, if any, so we decided to play it safe (in our opinion) and stop taking preorders for the game once we'd sold 50% of our order with our supplier. We kept asking about what the cuts would be, if they knew how many we'd get but there was no news. We recently found out that we were being cut to about 10% of our allocation. So we order 100 and only get 10 basically!
Going back to enjirube, he made an order just before we stopped selling the game. I told him he was right before the cut-off. I told him that there was no way to guarantee anything although we'd only ever let customers down with preorders once before in the last decade (which is true). I kept him updated as we got it from our suppliers and I probably wrote a couple of thousand words to him! I told him of possible outcomes:
These are the possible outcomes and options:
a) We'll be fine. After all, we did stop pre-selling the game when we sold 50% of our original order. So if we get cut in half, we'll be fine. But if the cuts are worse than that...
b) We won't be able to fulfil all orders. Anyone who preordered a Super Limited will be given first refusal on a Limited Edition (also with a steel case) and depending on how the numbers work out, we may even be able to supply one of these at a price lower than the current price. If you agree to drop down to a Limited Edition now, we should be able to get you in at the original £79.99 preorder price for the Limited Edition. There are still supposed to be cuts for the Limited Edition (after all, the cuts are because of Cave not ordering enough steel cases) but we think we'll be fine.
b) We might get offered more Super Limited Editions at a higher price. We don't yet know if we'll be able to get more at a higher price and of course even if we do get offered any, how many we take or whether we even take them at all would be dependant on how many of our original order we get at the original price. We'll reduce our profit on any we get at a higher price but it still will be likely that we'll charge more than the preorder price.
We'll email over more information when we know more...
I did later tell him that we'd started to offer some to some people at £159.99 but couldn't yet even offer one to him even at this price, because our supplier came back and offered us a small quantity extra at a much higher price and he was too far down the list but I was just telling him how it is (or was at the time). This is when he came back and had a go at me and expected us to offer the original preorder at the original price. But we just couldn't do that. Maybe if we'd taken full payment but we didn't. If we kept the original preorder price we'd lose thousands of pounds on a game which is important to us to make money on. It's not our fault that Cave screwed up and didn't make enough, and when they knew they didn't make enough, instead of making more within a huge time-frame, decided to simply not make any more. It's like we're getting blamed for their stupid cuts which are for no real reason anyway as they had months to go and buy more steel cases and make more games! If we didnt' put the game up for preorder originally we'd just either end up in a big mess when the game came out or we'd just lose sales to other people who'd also not be able to fulfil orders!
Sometimes shit just happens. It's VERY rare. This is a unique situation for us and we've spent hundreds of hours on it, emailing suppliers and customers and just basically being completely transparent about the whole thing. It's a HUGE pain in the ass. But we're not prepared to lose money on it unfortunately. I hate that it's been this much of a nightmare. I think the amount of extra work we've put into this has all been unnecessary and I feel bad for customers who have to pay more. We can now guarantee everyone who made an original preorder, just not at the original preorder price. We've offered them Limited Editions instead at a lower price or normal editions at a lower price to try to help out. As for us, we're in a fucked-up situation too. When we had to make our preorder with our suppliers, we called it that the Super would be the most popular one for us and we actually ordered TWICE as many Supers as we ordered regular versions. And we ordered twice as many regulars as we did Limited Editions, basically thinking that most people would go for the Super over the regular. That's actually just how our preorder numbers went too, but once we stopped selling the Super, we started selling more Limiteds. Once we got our crappy confirmed numbers for the Super, we asked if we could get more Limiteds, figuring that if people couldnt' get the Super at all, they'd likely go for the Limited. So we ordered a load of extra Limited Editions that we hadn't actually sold and at a massively increased price compared to our original price but now we have found out we can get more Supers (at a higher price admittedly) and now we have loads of unsold Limited Editions! We bought those to try to head-off a situation where people who ordered the Super would not only NOT get the Super but also wouldn't be able to even get the Limited Edition either because we hadn't ordered enough of those. We really did everything we could here.
Most people get it. Most people probably aren't too happy about the price increase but understand the situation. As far as I'm concerned, we did everything we could other than accept losses of a couple of grand. Sorry.

I think it's logical, except for the fact that the cave shop closed down around about when the sdoj ost came out (ie like 12 months ago).KAI wrote:No.VideoGameImports wrote:I think they were intended to be an exclusive for the Cave website, but as that closed and Cave had already bought all the steel boxes, they needed an outlet and put them on general sale.

I think first and foremost, Cave is to blame here for the awful way they do business. As I've said before, this is precisely the reason why they'll probably go out of business, soon. They never seemed to get what their fanbase wanted. Instead of producing more merchandise and selling it via their online store, they closed the store down. Instead of having posters and other stuff for sale at their 2013 matsuri, they were trying to peddle Kinect cameras. Instead of waiting to see how many people would pre-order the Super Limited Edition of Saidaioujou, they decided in advance how many they'd make. Pardon my French, but you can't make this shit up.

I will not deny that you were most kind and kept me informed at all times, on the contrary you gave me great customer service from the minute I placed the order, I truly do stand by what I said earlier in the thread about you being a genuinely nice guy.VideoGameImports wrote:Going back to enjirube, he made an order just before we stopped selling the game. I sincerely apologise for any bad feeling, the stress of how everything has gone down has definitely made me paranoid and caused my outburst. I just made my own silly assumption when I saw the SLE back up for pre-order after having been told that I probably couldn't get one and either way it would not be at the price I pre-ordered it.
However I accept what you have said as fact and I have already agreed with you that the fault truly lies with Cave on this one.

To add to your comment, I made the order when the game was 13,440 yen with shipping at 3,040 yen (about 161.00 dollars total). Now it is 17,490 yen with 4,420 yen (about 214 dollars total). I’m glad that I secured an order with them early to save myself 50+ dollars. They shipped my SLE in less than 24 hours after they announced that they had them in stock on facebook. According to Fedex tracking, it should arrive tomorrow

The wait for this game is going to be excruciating.

It's OK mate, don't worry about it. I can understand the frustration. We've had a ton of it ourselves with this game. Possibly if I'd given you less information, it would have been better for you but I just wanted to keep you 100% up to date on everything we knew ourselves. Of course that can change all the time. One minute our suppliers are telling us no chance, next minute they suddenly have some more available. Honestly, I'll be glad when this is all over, it's been like one huge headache for a couple of months.
Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
Are there problems with regular LE supply? I ordered mine off of NCSX a couple of days before region-free was announced. Assumed it would be OK because of how much surplus MushihimeSama Limited edition they seem to have...

I can't say I fully agree without knowing the facts- but I always got the sense that their stuff on the aftermarket always sold so darn high because they just didn't make enough to fill the demand. That's cool and all, but I wonder to what point the limited edition stuff drove purchases and how much was just lost sales to the company. It'll be a darn shame if they go under, though
