PSP needs more RPG's...

Post by dave4shmups »

Seriously, Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 are both out for the PSP, as is Breath of Fire III. Plus Kings Field is planned as well (it'd be really nice to see some more texture mapping on that one!), and yet none of these are coming out in the US.

Come on Sony, how about more of these games and less PS2 re-hashes. :?

The Legend of Heroes

PoPoLoCrois

Tales of Eternia is coming to Europe.

I'm thinking King's Field PSP was one of those titles that get put on a list at console-announcement time and are never heard from again. There's been exactly zero word on the game since it showed up on a PSP release list around TGS '04. It's sad, but I doubt it's ever coming.

Yeah, no kidding. :/ At least the first two have never seen US release before now.

PoPoLoCrois looks wonderful, Game Informer gave it a very good score, said the 2D sprites look wonderful on the PSP's screen and that the battle system and story while old fashioned are nicely engaging with very likeable characters. Unforutnately it has been pushed back to December. Was orginally going to be released late this month. Oh well, more time to replay Chrono Trigger in the meantime.

OK, well thanks for that info guys; I didn't know about those titles at all. :D I'll definately have to look into them!

I'm pretty excited for Rockman Rockman; a graphical remake of the first Mega Man game on the NES, as well as Irregular Hunter X, a graphical remake of SNES Mega Man X-both are Japanese releases; Irregular Hunter X comes out on Dec. 15th. :D :D

Yeah, I don't think King's Field is coming, either. I've checked From Software's game website, and there's no mention of it anywhere.

Looking at the screens, I'd have to say I prefer the NES graphics to this super-deformed remake. It just looks awful.

The stage creator option sounds pretty cool, though.

Thank goodness for portables being region free. After watching some vids I want to check out Tales of Eternia, might be a good intro to the series for me.

Ubisoft is handling the European release of Tales Of Eternia which is released on 11th November.

Obviously it looks nice, but the new english voices are quite good too and the battle system is still classic.

Well worth a look.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like this may be my first Euro import then, no need to wait for a U.S. release. nods head The backgrounds in the battle scenes are gorgeous and the rotating Mode7'esque world map looks ace. :)

The PSP needs more games, period. Right now it's as dry as the xbox was in january of 2002.

Well, according to Game Faqs, PSP Xyanide is due out on November 15th, and the PSP is, of course, region-free. And that's the only release date I've seen for ANY port of this game, so hopefully it will indeed be released on that date.

It'll be interesting to see how the control works, given that the XBOX port will use both analog sticks, and the PSP only has one. It could end up for a better, more comfortable gaming experience, or worse one. Either way, it'll be interesting to see.
