Trying to rip PS1 audio, need help

Post by Zeether »

I'm trying to rip the music from Castlevania SoTN (the tracks on the OST are WAY TOO SHORT) and I cannot for the life of me find the music tracks on the disc at all, outside of about 7 streamed tracks which I think are from the bonus music CD. PSXMC finds what seem to be are the music tracks but trying to play them results in silence and I'm not sure why. Is there some other program that can do this? I tried ADPCM Player too and came up with nothing.

I believe it's properly sequenced, so you're not going to easily be able to rip them yourself. Look for PSF files for the game and get a player, and that should do it.

Try XAPlay. IIRC all of the music is stored in the largest single file on the disc.

The Sound Test: It's not every day that we're blessed with a Castlevania game that offers a way to listen to its music without playing the game. To do so here, complete a mission with Alucard while attaining over 180% castle completion; start a new mission in a separate slot and work your way to the Master Librarian's room in the long library. As an extra option in his selection, you can now listen to the game's music tracks.
Not ideal, but failing any of the other solutions, it appears the game has a built-in sound test.

Try with CubeMedia2, I use that to rip PSX and PS2 games.

It depends on the game.

Yes, and I'm talking about this particular game. I'm working from memory, but the file was called xa_str1 or something like that, and XAPlay was able to play all of the music from it with no difficulty.
