iCade

Post by matrigs »

I recently got ahold of an iPad 3 and bought a few shmups on it which i'm really enjoying.

One of my purchases was Danmaku Unlimited 2 which for 2 euros is pretty much a steal and a very nice game.

I just stumbled across this review, where it is shown being played on an iCade:

Now correct me if i'm wrong, but what i am seeing here is that the input lag is absolutely horrid. It seems pretty much unplayable this way.

So i was thinking - is this the same for all the other iPad shmups, including the cave games?

The iCade connects through Bluetooth, right ? Is that neccessarily a bad thing ? I mean, isn't the PS3 controller connected the same way ? So, maybe it's down to the implementation after all.

Wanted to pick up an iCade along with a iPad for quite some time, but somehow can't justify the cost, if I don't use the iPad for anything else. You should get the Vectrex package!

Oh, nice one.

This seems to work quite well. Maybe Danmaku Unlimited just has some bad implementation of the iCade?

I mean we have discussed the role of input lag to death on the forum and i guess that some amount of it might be ok, but that seems unplayable.
