Nice! I love watches, but I'm not much of a historian. My oldest is from the 80's :D (Seiko LC ftw). As much as I love the ingenuity of 100% mechanical watches, I find myself leaning towards modern hybrid stuff. I've been on a Seiko Kinetic kick as of late.

LOL, had a bit of a run-around today with FedEx due to the short-lived seller offering a Japanese Contra PCB (remember that?).

Gave me a tracking number from some site I'd never heard of, Interparcel, and it showed updated information for the item sitting at a nearby FedEx facility.

Called in today, and was able to ascertain (with a bit of prompting) that not only was the item on its way back to Memphis (which Memphis? I don't know, it doesn't say), but it had been shipped out not only to my email address, but to a PO Box, instead of a home address. They did intercept it for me though (yay). FedEx shouldn't accept either - they require a regular address and lol @ using an email address.

Sent the seller back a message stating I had things wrapped up.

Then I got the update phone message...they didn't give me my new tracking number, but they did basically demand they get paid before they did anything. Great, they didn't tell me that earlier. Didn't feel like asking for something for nothing, and I didn't want to throw it back to the seller.

I guess when the item gets here I'll tell the seller that I had been considering paying him back (he said he took a loss on the shipping method, which I think is accurate) but unfortunately since it looks like I'll be paying some shipping out of my own pocket, that's not gonna happen now. Lessons learned, I hope.

Seems like a decent chap though, I just think he didn't know how to ship the item to the US.

Boo at the seller shipping the original box with stickers on it. I hope you've got an external 5.25" drive for that.

Other than that...nice...

yeah - unfortunately that's the way I received it.. :(

REALLY irks me when I buy a CAVE/CPS2/any PCB kit, and they ship it just in the original PCB box with a shipping sticker on it and completely wrapped in tape.. Happens all of the time over here, and I just assume that's the way it's going to be unless I specify otherwise. People are animals.

You should see my FM Towns 2 HR box... :o The machine itself is something else (and my cleaning effort didn't really help it, alas).

Nobody show this to System11...nice watch he's got there though, a pretty one for the era. (Well, this is probably more the average horologist's style.)

V For Vendetta: Doll Collector
Watchmen: Implied Pirate Rape

Hmm, not sure which is worse in terms of...well, discussing some kind of evil.

What are those cans, though? Been thinking about getting the new ATH-A900 successor, one of the head cushions on mine has had a plastic bit break off, so it's constantly sliding out of place. The replacement gets good reviews also.

You must be out of touch with the world not to recognise those Ed. They're fake though, cost me £6. Sound better than the ones I paid £50 for, so it's all good.

I'm all about comfort: I love my Philips SBC HL140, because they're very light and you barely feel them there, even though the sound is far from great. And they're very cheap too. Now, if we're going to discuss that, how about a thread about headphones?

Some Amazon pickups thanks to a gift from work:

Free shipping, and it arrived in three days. Madness.

I was reluctant to buy this, but I'm so glad I did.

A work of Art:

It's extremely comprehensive, and has lots of interesting commentary from Urushihara.

Oddly enough the Drakengard appears to be a Canadian copy...

nice artist though, one of the better technical executors if the designs are a bit old-school simple. Nothin' wrong with that though. :)

Just kidding. ;] I love Assault Suits Valken (where ol' Chuck hails from), I wish he'd drawn more stuff from that game's universe. AFAIK it's just the illustrations in this post.

Oh book 4. It's is a long and (some may argue) boring read, compared to the other books in the series. Felt like a grind to me, mainly because of book 3 being so kickass, but getting through it really helped set-up book 5.
A lot of patience is needed for this one, good luck!

I've read it before. I actually quite like it, and in some ways I think it's better than 5. At least stuff HAPPENS in 4.

My birthday gift to myself arrived:

Image

Truth be told I'm not 100% sure why I wanted it, but I wanted it. (and I have another small mixer table ordered, an USB one... it's dangerous to let me have money. In retrospect, the USB one would probably have been enough for my purposes, but, eh. Worst case scenario is that I sell this one.)

Actually, it's supposed to be the start ofgetting my sound system to be something a little better than the two computer speakers I've been using since the subwoofer for the 7.1 speaker system I have died, and the amp is in the subwoofer. And when I say died, it's... not entirely dead, but it's not working.

Can't actually use it yet because a) UK power plug (which I really should have seen coming) and 2) I need some cables first but that process is in motion.

Return it if you can. The xenyx line are some the noisiest, shittiest made mixers I have ever had the displeasure of using. What are you planning on using this for? Whats the other one you have on order?

I don't really bother to arrange demos. It's mostly software, I kept a Mikrokorg 'cause it's got a few presets I like
and bought the Nord 2 to fuck about with.

I could probably return it since the box wasn't sealed, so "unopened" is a matter of definition. Unused since I don't have the audio cables for it yet. But even so, if I would get a refund, with the shipping cost deducted (I guess) I could probably get as much money from selling it here.

But admittedly, it was really the other one I had planned on getting. And I won't make you any happier by revealing that it's also a Xenyx, but a dude I know who works with audio a lot had good things to say about that one.

I'm really only planning on using it for some kind of small sound setup at home, but I'm going to need to have the actual audio cables (and a converter so I can plug it into a Swedish outlet...) before I can figure out what's that really going to mean. I'm by no means an audio expert, but working with karaoke for several years has made me aware of a few things.

Oh, and for better sound control while streaming.

So, yeah. As I said, the worst case scenario is that I'll sell this one. I don't think I'd get more money from returning it, and mailing it back to England would be a hassle.
