That leaves Revolution.....
To hell with the Revolution after those controller pics! :?

At any rate, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets a US release; Konami did, after all, release 5 over here.

Oh come on; everyone thought Nintendo was nuts last year for going with the dual screens and the stylus-and now it's outstripped the PSP. I will definately get a Revolution if it's exclusives are even half as fun as the Game Cube's.

If you count those out, what is left will be:

- much shorter stages with no intermezzo portions
- possibly the dull weapons system where you just pick up everything
- vertical stages which I personally don't like. There are more than enough vertical shmups out there

I don't mean to say that I don't like Salamander. But I still pray that the new game is pure Gradius.
Yeah, but what it did lack, that Salamader does not, are vertical stages in addition to the hori ones-awesome in the first Salamander, and just flat-out amazing in the 2nd one. I have a feeling, though, that Konami would've already given us a new Salamander if they'd wanted to do so, unfortunately. :(

I thought Salamander sucked ass in comparison to Gradius (personal opinion before anyone bites me). Bland level design, uninteresting weapons and overhead stages that just felt 'wrong'. And that goes for both parts. Give me a Gradius 6 any day.

I prefer Gradius to Salamander, but I think the first level of Salamander is one of the coolest and most varied intro levels I've ever seen. Maybe I just haven't seen that many intro levels... :)

revolution supports GC controllers so we will be able to use the excellent HORI soulcalibur2 stick.
XBOX360 on the other hand will use MS widgets to prevent 3rd party controllers (we'll see if that can be circumvented or if there are 360 arcade sticks, or if 360 players are just stuck with pads)
(at worst you could make your own 360 sticks by soldering directly into the inputs contacters anyway)

revolution also supports attachments/shells for the remote thingy. hori could make a new stick for revolution, just have a slot for the remote to stick in and youd have a wireless hori stick (or hack up the 'classic shell' nintendos releasing for a custom stick).

8) - GREAT NEWS.

With the PS3's graphic capabilities, this version of Gradius should ROCK. I hope Treasure is involved.

Great news of course... but I don't think one game will be able to justify the purchase of the system for me :?

PSP now is the only sony hardware that did not see a Gradius title in its early months. *hint for konami* try to fix this.
Ohh, it will. The screen is just screaming for a Gradius.

True, but I think it's also screaming for a Darius I and II pack from Taito, considering how long the PSP's screen is.

Treasure, Konami, ZUN... I don't care who's behind the PS3 Gradius just so long as it's made, and not by EA.

Oooh, i hope there will be more shmups for the ps3 than this.. but i dont think you really need better graphics for a shmup than like Gradius V, well maybe they will make the boss ships plates shiny and reflective but that doesent really matter anything.

As Gradius V is my favorite Gradius ( havent ever played gaiden however ) Gradius III is my second favorite i certainly hope treasure makes this one.

Buuuu... 1up.com has a little snippet about Gradius 'VI' on this page.

http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.off ... Id=3148332

Says that it has been reported as being put on "indefinite hold" by 'a source close to Konami'.

Keep in mind that that means nothing definite...
