Not exactly. We're using a 1cc run by fellow #shmups IRC member mtume, who has a highscore that trumps Vamos' 4mil 1cc, and covers a lot of the game's alternate path segments and secrets.Dave_K. wrote:Is there a superplay available?
Along with trap15 and myself, he's been trying to unravel the mysteries of this game - and with his help we've made a lot of progress! Unfortunately he told me he wasn't able to get on IRC or use a mic to speak for himself on Saturday, but is apparently doing a stage-by-stage writeup for us to read.

This will be the first episode for a game I haven't played yet. Hopefully it'll be a good primer for the 360 release at the end of the month.

you guys have wrecked everything for yourselves so far. How are you going to beat manly commentary by medal or gus? And how do you beat man beams? How do you ever expect to top any of that?
Re: STG Weekly #21: G-Stream G2020
Wouldn't it be a better idea to wait until DeltaZeal is out? G-Stream is not a finished game, at least not the version supported by MAME.

Re: STG Weekly #21: G-Stream G2020
Has it actually been confirmed that in mame this is not a completed game? I don't think it has been, but I'm for one happy to see this get a show.
Re: STG Weekly #21: G-Stream G2020
If it was, I seriously doubt that the final boss would have such pathetic patterns, among other things. It's got problems that can't simply be attributed to it being the first professional release of a young developer.
Pictures exist of an alleged later arcade revision with a different title screen, but it hasn't been emulated. (This screen is used on the Score Attack menu of DeltaZeal.) Even if it was found, the G-Stream PCBs were poorly manufactured and are notoriously prone to failure.

An interesting choice for a stream, to be sure, but I eagerly look forward to someone actually dissecting such a bizarre shmup.

Re: STG Weekly #21: G-Stream G2020
This week has been in the works for a while now, along with Developer's Week and others previously mentioned, as a way of drumming up support for people to pre-order the game. Triangle Service needs all the money it can get, especially if the rumours about the cost of making a game region-free is true (and I'd like to see their future games region-free too).Pretas wrote:Wouldn't it be a better idea to wait until DeltaZeal is out? 5,088,220. mtume does some scoring, but took an A-route through the alternate stages - had he taken a B-route I strongly suspect he would've gained upwards of 6 million (in my runs I get a million additional points just from doing 3-B alone). I've heard hearsay that the world record is some 8 million points.Vamos wrote:What was his score? I never really did much for score bar quick killing.

I see, that's definitely a valid reason. Not much point in having a week for DeltaZeal if barely anyone could be bothered to buy the collection. This week has been in the works for a while now, along with Developer's Week and others previously mentioned, as a way of drumming up support for people to pre-order the game. I feel they erred in choosing to release it the same day as SDOJ. Of course they were going to get completely overshadowed by Cave. They also still have yet to show a proper trailer besides that short video clip, which would go a significant way towards attracting sales. I know they only have a few employees and editing a trailer is difficult work when you're in the middle of a major project, but it's vital.

Is there much in the way of weapons strategy? Mine was basically get all red for the stupid powerful spread shot and stay alive.BPzeBanshee wrote:This week has been in the works for a while now, along with Developer's Week and others previously mentioned, as a way of drumming up support for people to pre-order the game. Red is strong but it seems obvious to me why you would want to use Blue, more damage vs bosses and makes it easier to get medals.Vamos wrote:Is there much in the way of weapons strategy? There's a bit here and there, but at this rate I'd be spoiling everything before the stream even happens!

Re: STG Weekly #21: G-Stream G2020
Sorry, the schedule for this is in fact tomorrow (24 hours from this posting) Saturday May 18th 8pm CST. Thanks.

What happened to doing something live at the Frenetic shmup meet?

Watched the recorded stream on the channel. It's nice to finally see some full clears of this. Max red weapon with max autofire is a bit on the overpowered side >_>;
On the topic of Oriental Soft, I recently checked out a copy and/or hack of Strikers 1945 III called 1945k III that has their name on it. It's got some very slick patterns and whoever made it clearly knew what they were doing.

I actually didn't think all that much of 1945kIII. For one thing, it's related only in name: Oriental Soft Japan is a very different bunch from the Koreans that made 1945kIII.
Hope you guys didn't mind my loud-ass Aussie voice too much.
EDIT: In case anyone misconstrued, void bombs are by holding Button 1 (shot), not Button 2 (bomb). Just noticed in the video it might've sounded like we said otherwise.

with all the talk about the NEsica release of Crimzon Clover, I've been getting back into it on PC. Would be awesome to see an Unlimited run convered on STG weekly, or maybe just a high scoring Normal run

Thanks you for posting this as I had no idea about this game which is odd considering I love the Raiden series.
Also pre-ordered the collection for the xbox 360

I don't think that has more then 15 minutes worth to talk about and discuss.z0mbie90 wrote:I wanna see a Space Invaders episode, the original game

A Compile episode at some point in the future would be neat to see. You could probably do it like you did with Same! Same! Same! and pick a representative game while discussing the company's history of STGs.
Also glad to see this episode. I really hope the re-release fixes some of the rushed issues with the original game.
