XRGB-3 as a scan converter - anybody actually tried it ?

Post by Fudoh »

Just wondering about this. I have a XRGB-3 on hand right now and before I setup a highly complicated test rig, I wonder if anybody actually tried this ?

At one point Micomsoft added a 15khz (320x240) output timing for the B0 mode. Of course this doesn't work with standard VGA connections, but it was intended as a scan converter function for arcade cabs. 480p input via VGA or component and 15khz RGB output.

Any ideas ? Worth the effort ?

likely not, although I never tried it and Micomsoft could have skipped the frame buffering.

I tested it with my sony PVM when i bought my xrgb-3, and the image was a piece of crap. Used with a regular VGA to RGBHV cable to connect it. You have to enable low resolution first, and then will activate the 320x240. It's not on pair with the emotia or uvc.

What happens if you choose that resolution in B1, just ignores it?

Can't remember, i think even you change it, it will allways stay in 640x480. But better check it again.

Don't know about UVC, but emotia gonna last long, as long you don't make a short circuit or so, its very well build. Meanwhile you have MIMO machines too, and maybe arcadeforge comes with another plug and play solution.
