I know it's unussual but didn't Cave do something like a location test for the SDOJ port in Osaka some days ago? or did I missunderstood it again?Cuilan wrote:Direct-to-console shmups don't have the luxury of loke-tests. Argh, why does this have to be hard? To encourage MOSS, or to ignore...many good things in here, but still struggling to get over my continued indifference to the style and the price.
Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
Actually, this guy pretty much uses all the same safe spots I currently use as well as even bombing past the same patterns I do... the one interesting thing was seeing where he used the Burst attack (which is something I just haven't been utilizing). Also, need to rely more on my elementals.Jaimers wrote:Safespots are all over the place.Kiken wrote:Still looking for more boss safe spots

I watched Kiken's video, and I think this looks like a really great, and fun shmup! Is there any chance that this will see a region-free, or U.S. release? Moss's other shmups have made it over here.

How does the Ether Chip system work? I'm wondering what I'm doing to get a different number of upgrade chips at the end of the level, would be really helpful for scoring and survival to be able to manipulate the system in the first few levels.

Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
The multiplier affects the value of the gold units you're collecting from destroyed enemies. The higher that multiplier, the more each gold unit is worth in relation to the meter next to the ether chip stock (every time the meter reaches max, you gain an ether chip). The multiplier raises faster when enemies are killed by your elemental shots alone (no standard fire).nZero wrote:How does the Ether Chip system work? Ah-ha, I see, it's the gold medals. No wonder I was really raking in bank from the Cut-In Break with a high multiplier. Thanks!Kiken wrote:The multiplier affects the value of the gold units you're collecting from destroyed enemies. Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
I picked this up over the weekend and I'm really enjoying it. Once you get to the stage 2 boss the game gets tough but all of the Silvergun-esque ship abilities give you everything you need to survive.
So is there any chance of starting a GD thread in the strategy section compiling what is known about multipliers, scoring, sol towers, known safe spots etc? I'd make one myself but I'm not really all that qualified to do it. In any case it would be really appreciated.
Also does anyone know specifically what effects upgrading has on the elemental weapons? With Alex I know that her E1 shoots at a much fast rate as you level it up, and her E2 goes from one line of fire to two, and then eventually 3. However I haven't quite figured out what effect upgrading has on her E3.
Also with E3, can anyone explain the details of how each one cancels bullets? Kei's tongue looking one is straight forward, you just sort of lick up the bullets. But Maria's and Alex's are less obvious. I think Alex's flaming wings eat the bullets and they seem to deploy in the opposite direction of movement, but even so sometimes I eat a bullet that I thought I should have canceled so it must not work exactly like I think. Marias also appears to just be a totally safe barrier like Espgaluda, but I've also been whacked by bullets when I had it deployed. Are some bullets not cancelable?
Finally what Elemental upgrades do you guys prioritize? For me it seems like enemies have a lot of health in this game so I usually max out offensive skills first going E1, then E2, then E3. I usually game over by stage 3 boss though, so I don't get around to upgrading E3.
Sorry for the wall of text, thanks for any input.

Looks like quite a solid game to me.
Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
I think that any bullet that hits the barrier gets cancelled, but inside the barrier you're still vulnerable so if you're hovering over a tank or something it can still get you. Also I think the barrier has a bit of start up time.ACSeraph wrote: Marias also appears to just be a totally safe barrier like Espgaluda, but I've also been whacked by bullets when I had it deployed. Finishing each stage with 4 ether chips I usually give 2 to E1 and one each to 2 and 3.
Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
Ok so I've done a bit more experimentation and here's what I figured out about how the elemental attacks work and what their upgrades do:
Alex
E1:
Shoots a beam forward like a missile. Mostly just for straight damage. At max level you shoot significantly faster, so it can deal pretty devastating damage. Good for killing bigger enemies quickly.
E2:
Sends out a static wall of fire that stays on screen as long as you hold the button. While the directional input is up, down or neutral the wall will be in the middle of the screen going vertically. If you press right when you deploy it, it appears on the left side of the screen angles diagonally towards the right. If you hit left the opposite happens. At max level it deploys 3 walls of fire, so it covers more space.
E3:
Deploys wings of fire on the left and right that absorb bullets. Has some start up when the wings deploy and if you move it trails behind you like an option, meaning it'll cover your back but you can't safely use it to break through walls of bullets. At max level the wings are about twice as large as their initial level.
Kei
E1:
Shoots boomerang looking bullets in curved patterns around Kei. Seems to home and fills a large part of the screen so its great for wiping out popcorn but doesn't seem as useful against large enemies. At max the boomerangs appear to be bigger and I assume they do more damage.
E2:
Small static circles of wind appear in the general vicinity of the direction you press when deploying the attack. At the initial level there are three circles, at Max there are eight. Works a lot like Alex's fire.
E3:
A blue beam about twice the length of the ship that absorbs bullets deploys from the front of the ship with very little stat up. When you press a direction the beam will quickly bend 45 degrees in the direction pressed. At max level the beam is absolutely massive, about 2/3 the vertical length of the screen. By hitting left and right quickly you can wipe the screen clean of bullets. This E3 is light years ahead of the other 2 character's.
Maria:
E1:
Shoots 3 homing beams for good damage. The beams need some distance to home properly, so at very close ranges they will arc towards but miss enemies that are close on your left or right. At Max level the beams are about 3 times as thick and seem to do bigger damage. Probably the best E1 of the characters.
E2:
Fires 3 strings of bullets in a spreadshot formation. If you move the bullets will keep firing from the same spot where you deployed them, but they will arc in the direction you are pressing. If you go neutral the will go back to firing straight forward. At max level you shoot five strings instead of 3 in a wider area.
E3:
A ring forms around Maria and the begins emitting lots of bullets in a tornado looking pattern from her ship. However these bullets will not extend past the barriers ring. The barrier itself DOES NOT cancel enemy bullets. Enemy bullets are canceled when they come into contact with the bullets your ship is emitting. More likely than not they will be canceled due to the amount of bullets you are spitting out, but it is not 100% reliable. The most reliable way to use it defensively is by spinning the joystick quickly in a 360 motion so that you stay mostly stationary but your cancelling bullets cover most all of the area in the ring. This is not reliable for moving through a wall of bullets to a safer part of the screen. Also the start up is very long. At max level the barrier ring is about twice as large.

Looks like quite a solid game to me.
Stage 2 boss: golden lance attack; safe spot is in the lower left corner.
Stage 3 boss: ice crystal shard shower; safe spot is in the upper right just beneath the boss.

Besides, there were a lot more attacks trivialized by dodging then in a place that the developer probably wasn't thinking of when designing then.

Re: Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS
My setup is Maria's (Earth) E1 (X button), Alex's (Fire) E1 (Y button) and Maria's (Earth) E3 (B button). Both the homing attack and "shotgun" type fire attack deals a huge amount of damage once you level them up. The bullets that emits from your ship removes enemy bullets upon contact so it "almost" works as a means of protecting against bullets, but not completely reliable, and not every type of enemy bullet can be dealt with, only specific ones.
This setup is very useful for those attempting the No Miss Clear achievement by playing as Caladrius (which I was able to do just recently). It doesn't have to be played on default setting to unlock by the way.

I'd like to see it. That's the nice thing about a forum, even if it's lacking in some area (which doesn't matter much, it's not an ST) then anyone with specific knowledge can always reply and fill in any holes that might be present in the OP.ACSeraph wrote:So is there any chance of starting a GD thread in the strategy section compiling what is known about multipliers, scoring, sol towers, known safe spots etc? You have to play through the Story Mode with the character you want to customize to unlock that feature, which means a total of 4 playthroughs. From that point, you can choose between all 12 of the elemental attacks and assign them to the 3 buttons (default X/Y/B).BobbyNewmarkiii wrote:How do I do a custom elemental attack load out?
