Get in touch with the CaveUI guys, I'm sure they'd be interested.
I'm not withholding it because there's nowhere to send it. I'm withholding it because I still think there's a chance for a new better port of it. Also because CAVE would hate me even more for doing it
- Compile it (?)
- Go to 4chan and release it anonimously in the shmups general thread
- ??????
- Profit

Besides, the main selling point of Cave console ports are the extras and online leaderboards, not the main games.

Did you even read what I said? I have moral objections against releasing it.

Why do you even mention it in the first place?

I would imagine that he said so because this is a discussion board and he wanted to discuss.

That when it finally is released it'll be a lot better than the current crap? Anyway I don't know where it is in Ibara that the slowdown that happens on the pcb is supposed to make it that much easier. We're not talking Futari type slowdown or anything close.

It's just that I've heard complaints about the port and emulation about there being no slowdown, and it's the one Cave board that I didn't notice any on. The emulation and ports will never be perfect though, for any of the cv1000 games.

Well I guess there was some on the train level come to think of it.

it's not as extreme as futari, but it's quite helpful. the stage 3 "3 trains at once" end section is a real good example. watching acr fly through that section is amazing, but i'm just a human  .

speaking of acr, does anyone know if he recorded his "a,xxx, xxx" run? and if so the odds of it being released? and was it done on the port or the pcb?

there's bunchs on other boards too. i notice that the types of weapons you have equipped plays a big part as well. having 3 flamethrowers equipped seems to generate a ton of slowdown. the beginning of stage 3 crawls until i pick up a couple machineguns

It sounds like he wanted to gloat about something we can't have.

That's just my opinion.

So, you are saying it sounds like I am gloating, or trap15 is? Probably trap15? That board is cheaper than buying a PS2 + the disc?

Seriously though, it is not that damn much different than the port or emulation, you can break through the lack of slowdown in sections with practice. GET A SET OF BALLS.

I promise you can get through a lack of slowdown on Ibara for real. Study the rank system and practice again and again and you will eventually beat it, if you can eventually beat other Cave games. I'm not going to invest in a new system to prove it but I know I'm right. And trap15 should be ok to say something about code that gets released in the future due to the weird circumstances.

In a year or two, if there doesn't seem to be any sign of a new port, I'll release it.

Or if the driver goes back into mainline MAME.

Created an Ibara Kuro cover and insert for my graphic design final, pretty happy with how they turned out:

Sorry if some of the info isn't correct, I only have a working knowledge of Ibara so I was going off of what I found in strategy topics :p

What is the going rate for an Ibara or Ibara Kuro board these days? Less than $300, right?

Ibara is around $350 I think
Kuro is around $900 - $1000

Looks awesome.

An Ibara & Ibara kuro port is basically all you would need to own on the Xbox 360 >_>

Actually I like Ibara and it's from my favourite shmups from Cave. I have only played the PS2 version. I don't know how much faithful is it in comparison with the arcade version but at least for me it was playable. Not like PS2 port of Mushihimesama which looked and played like crap (at least that's the impression I had when I first played it, maybe I would change my mind if I would try it again now).

It's been a while since I last played Ibara and I don't remember which version I played. Probably I played Ibara Kuro: Black Label, I will check it out. And with this opportunity I'll play it again on MAME this time. Cave should release a HD Ibara on XBLA.

I should be getting my first Ibara PCB this week, very curious to see what I think about it after all these years since selling off my PS2 port. I never got into it (always seemed like a chore to play), granted my shmup skills have come a long way since then.

Mushi may have had a similar crappy graphics filter, but it played just fine... didn't it?

When I first played it to my 32'' TV not only it looked totally painful to the eyes (with Ibara I had no problem), I was also annoyed with the fact that the bug I'm controlling was so slow in comparison with the enemies which were much faster. But as I said that was my first impression, way before I played Ibara, so maybe I was wrong.

Does Mushi really have a filter on the PS2? I don't think so. I think all it does is interlace. When I tried it recently in PCSX2 the deinterlacing option (bob ttf) worked perfectly fine for it and made it look pixel perfect, apart from uneven pixels here and there which probably was due to the window size and not due to the game itself.

Mushi on a PS2 has another problems - most of the backgrounds are divived into tiles and they tend to wobble around. Filtering is present, but not terrible. I think they just downscaled the original 320x240 to whatever the PS2 can handle with it's underscan border.

Mushi and Ibara can be both be patched to 240p. Ibara looks REALLY good with the patch applied. Mushi looks ok.

If it has a filter it is super minimal. And never noticed any wobbling of tiles I have to say.

It simply looks WAY better in PCSX2 than on the real hardware.

I played it a lot when I first got it for PS2, and yeah, I remember it looking a bit blurry, nothing outrageous tho. And again, never noticed tile wobbling. Got the 360 port now, tho the PS2 port will probably be sold soonish (LE with little Reco figurine if anyone is interested)

Do people hate Ibara cause it doesn't have a visible hitbox?
