Prehistoric Isle no sound (HELP in SPAIN!)

Post by Sir Arthur ahf »

Hi guys,

I just have received a PCB from a forum member and there is no sound from the PCB (Egret II)

I have checked the dip switch:

http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-vi ... %20DIP.pdf

Apparently you have to change number 3&4 but there is no sound, even in game

The PCB seems to be fine, the yamaha chip is ok

What can I do? How can I change the voltage in the PSU? Is it dangerous?

First I would clean the edge connector of your jamma board with some rubbing alcohol and q-tips.

Do you have a multimeter? I would test your 5V, 12V, and -5V(not sure if this game uses it) at the jamma edge connector. Make sure the 5V is 5.0, at most it should be 5.10. 12V should be pretty close to 12, but can be a little off, 5.0V should be almost dead on.

I suggest those things before you go messing around with the voltage knob on the Egret II psu (potentially making things worse)

That game needs -5v, your cab doesn't have it.

Thanks guys for your help

System, I have opened the very same thread in Jamma+ and one guy has written that he uses this PCB without the -5V

Manual said it needed it. In that case, are the 4 grounds and 4 +5s tied together on the PCB? Some games don't and this causes problems on egrets - for example with Moon Walker.
