Just uploaded a video of the first 2 levels on Normal using Maria (third ship) doing my best to play for score: http://youtu.be/_0dwWLoa6iE

From what I can see, no dual score boards.

For those of you who are using a stick, what is your layout (Or what is the actual arcade button configuration)? My fingers are all over the place with the 6 buttons.

I'm using a fighting game three-over-three configuration:

[E1] [E2] [E3]
[Shot]

E1=Elemental 1
E2=Elemental 2
E3=Elemental 3
B=Bomb

I just use the Elemental shot combinations for Elemental Burst.

So I'm holding down Shot with my thumb and then using my index finger, middle finger and ring finger for the Elemental abilities.

I did similar, just added Bomb to the end after E3 as well (it's also next to Shot). I'm OK with pinkie action!

Is everyone happy with the game overall? I mean are you enjoying it so far?
No one expected that ginga force was going to be such a enjoyable title so I wonder if Caladrius sits in the same situation.

Not the impression I got at all, since Eschatos was already very favorably received.

I'm pleased with my purchase so far but the scoring mechanic didn't really click with me. I will keep focusing on Ginga Force and play this every now and then until I get a 1cc on Normal.

I wasn't impressed with my first few creds, but things seem to be making more sense now the concept of scoring is revealing itself to me.

I'm kind of getting a Karous vibe from this for some reason, mixed with Radiant Silvergun.

And anyone concerned about the difficulty need not worry, as it gets pretty hard from Stg2 Boss onwards. Seems really cool actually.

This and Ginga Force took their time endearing themselves to me, its not like Eschatos where as soon as you fire it up you just know its awesome.

Developers of Raiden, Moss, have revealed a secret stage for their recently released Xbox 360 shoot-em-up, Caladrius. The secret stage features a demon lord boss, known as Beelzebub, who is said to give players more than they can handle.

In the Old Testament, Beelzebub is known as the Lord of the Flies, but in Caladrius she is actually a female demon lord who represents “Gluttony,” one of the seven deadly sins. She was once a high-ranked angel who lost her wings, along with Lucifer. While Beelzebub is one of the most powerful demons of the underworld, she isn’t allowed to visit the outside world. Due to this restriction, she often finds herself a little bored in the world full of demons.

In order to meet this voluptuous demon, it is required to beat Story Mode under certain conditions to unlock the secret 6th stage. The hidden stage is said to feature completely different scenery from the others, and the conditions to unlock it have yet to be revealed.

Caladrius is currently available in Japan for Xbox 360.

Why this character design and story don't surprise me at all?

Any news about the requirements? Maybe this 6th stage could make the game hard enough :lol:

No Miss Stage 5 (don't lose a life). Can be more easily done on either Very Easy or Easy, and with "No Damage" set to ON.
There could be more accurate requirements, but that's the closest discovery so far.

The game has hidden monoliths a la Raiden. I guess you have to hover over a specific point for 2 seconds or so to reveal them. Managed to trigger one purely by accident in the first stage (it certainly explains why I was missing roughly 1% enemy destruction despite killing everything I could see).

Yep, the Sol towers are back. They show up in every stage except Stage 4 (sky stage) and you can see the little white diamond where you're supposed to hover to reveal the Sol.

Thanks, that's much more comfortable than the configuration I have.

The sol towers explains why all of a sudden I gained 100000 extra points when playing and the achievement. I'm not familiar with Moss games, but do these sol towers have random points?

(wow, some of these images after you no miss bosses are borderline porn)

I'd be interested to know the mystery of the Sol towers too. I've only found the one on the first stage but it gives me either 50k, 150k or 200k.

Also High score thread.

The Sol towers appear in set locations.
Stage 1: On the left in front of the large tree towards the end of the stage (before the final recharge crystal).
Stage 2: On the right side of the large island at the end of the level (has a recharge crystal on the left and the stage's final large enemy on the center).
Stage 3: Halfway through the stage on the right side, it's in front of one stationary cannons that fire the X-shaped bullet streams.
Stage 4: NA
Stage 5: In the church, right before the vertical descent into the smashed open floor, the tower is on the left.
Stage 6: Towards the end of the stage on the left side (there really isn't much in the way of scenery to really lock down its position more accurately).

Although when it comes to their point values... maybe it has something to do with how quickly they're revealed in regards to their placement on the screen. Not sure yet.

You know, I also find it shocking that no one has mentioned just how broken Caladrius (as in, the 4th unlockable character) is. I mean, really... a stupid powerful piercing shot for E1, a strong encompassing bullet absorption attack for E3 AND a bullet-reflecting attack for E2. Mix that up with a stupid strong and fast homing shot and this character is rather laughable (at least she's difficult to score with given how absurd her normal shot happens to be). First time playing with her and I legitimately got to stage 6 on Normal (apparently, you can die at the stage 5 boss and still trigger the TLS... you just can't take a hit during the stage itself).

So does the game allow high-score entry if you perform an Elemental Customization? Cause if so, Caladrius' E2 is going on every load-out (probably go with Maria's E1 and Kei's E3).

I think this may be the case. I remember revealing a tower and destroying it when it was at the very bottom for 50,000. And another tower at the very top for 200,000.

EDIT: the thing I don't like about caladrius is that if you sit on top of a small enemy, her homing lasers just spin around and around and around the enemy. You have to be at a specific distance from them for the lasers to hit.

Just got this game, been playing it for a few hours and so far I like it :D

There seems to be an alternate end of level picture. I suspect it is based on not dying.

What is the purpose of the purple crystals ?

I'm playing with Maria, there are 3 element attacks but I don't really understand them, Can anyone shed some light on this ?

They help you get a 1UP.

A purple crystal will appear once you kill specific enemies on every stage. Once you collect 9 crystals, they will form a "book" which will float down from the screen. A meter on the bottom center of the screen will show how many you obtained. Crystals are not lost if you lose a life or continue.

That's why her standard E1 is the option piercing laser.

E1 is always a high-powered attack.. more often than not, a linear shot.
E2 is a sort of defensive barrier shot designed to cover a good amount of the screen.
E3 is a bullet absorption ability.
mero wrote:Also High score thread.
On-line high scores allow Elemental Customization. So for the high-score thread, don't you think it would be useful to have players list whether or not they select a custom loadout, and if so, what they chose?

According to latest Famitsu sales data, Caladrius has sold 5,814 copies in Japan. Famitsu is saying that it sold out between 60%~80% of its first shipment.

(Side note: judging by other sell-through estimates for 360 games in the latest Famitsu data, it seems like the minimum print run for retail 360 games in Japan is now ~10k. I wonder if MS has lowered it in other regions as well.)

Just got my first ALL Clear using Caladrius (E1-E, E2-L, E3-W)... barely managed to squeak by the stage 6 boss on my last life with ample use of bullet reflecting feathers and the bullet-eating wind whip (did manage to max out all elementals though). Came away with 26.7 million... definitely need to clean things up in stage 4 and do better at the stage 5 boss. I'll try to post a clear vid by the weekend. Definitely think I can nail 30 million.. getting a No Miss in a level really jacks up your score.

Still looking for more boss safe spots cause some of those attacks are just annoying: managed to locate one against the stage 3 boss's ice-crystal pattern (sit in the upper-right just beneath the boss... the smaller shards will completely miss the ship and 2 larger shards will fall right in front of the craft but these are destructible).

Congrats Kiken :D

I found a safe spot on the level 2 dragon, when the jousting lances start you are safe in the lower left corner.
