does Sony PVM 20L5 support medium res (25khz) / EGA ?

Looking at the specs, the scanning freq. ranges from 15kHz to45kHz, but I don't see medium res in the "acceptable format" section on the last page.

I have a L5, I could test it if I could lay my hands on a EGA source.

Any easily obtainable PC games that put out the desired resolution?

My guess would be no though, SONY multisync monitors are pitifully unflexible.

that doesn't work. All EGA games output 31khz on any PC since the late 80s. You would need a genuine EGA graphics card to test this. Also PC EGA is far from 384p60 (arcade).

Well, I guess if I ever get my X68000 Compact to work I can try a medium res game. I believe it has a few.

I'd like to know if it works with Sega System 24 PCBs (Crackdown, Scramble Spirits, etc...) which are medium res, right now I'm using GBS-8220 + PC monitor; but I'd like to switch to CRT w/ native EGA support.

Cannot help you with PCB test since I have none. Best I can do is X68000 medium res games once I have that setup up and working.

The answer is no, it does not support 24khz.

A jumble of garbled lines. In four windows I believe. Nothing can be discerned.

The acceptable formats grid tells you exactly what scan frequencies it can accept.... EGA is clearly not one of them.
