Best "player ship" design

Post by KAI »

Post your vote (and pics if possible)

I can't decide between the Dio Spirossi, Kojiro or the penis ship from B-Wings.

I think I'm sticking with Kojiro.

No, seriously, the Shienryu ship kicks ass. Forward swept wing designs are great.

R13 Cerberus. Black with red trim looks great and making things explode with lightning is always cool. My favourite incarnation of the classic R9 design.

The ship in Viper Phase 1. Judge Spear? I like that one. It looks cool.

This is a great one, looks great from every angle, doesnt look too much like a fighter jet.
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]

Is there an English site where one can order RC Berg kits from? They look frigging amazing and the price seems really reasonable.

There is only one right answer.

Kollision has the right idea though - silverhawk is definitely in second-place.

honorable mention goes to the Colt-Revolver-with-Wings in Gun Frontier.

Ikaruga ship anyone?

I also like the design of Fake Yellow from Chaos Field. Although I don't like playing his ineffective main weapon and playing as him.
(unusually large pic, only one I could find)

And I like the Shinden inspired white ship from Battle Garegga

So many red. Glad to see somebody mentioned all of them though. Wait, no Thunder Dragon 2 planes?

Even so, the only correct answer is the Metal Black ship.

Or the Vaus.

Some other possibly tolerable choices: The ship from Vulgus (does the "flying pod / pancake" thing with surprisingly good looks - yeah I have a weakness for "functionally stubby spacecraft"), some of the ships from Change Air Blade, and of course some of those ships from those funny-playin' Graddy Azz games.

Man, where are there some sources of good fantasy spaceship / fighter plane art? I could list a few from various old trade paperbacks and the like, they're probably pretty obscure though, and most look more like boss ships anyway

I agree with the Einhänder ship design. It looks futuristic and badass. A joy to look at at.

The things I would do for a modern Einhänder II...

Nothing screams "badass" like "gatling guns duct-taped on at an odd angles." Needs some more spoilers too. VTEC JUST KICKED THE BUCKET

Oh, but the Gun Frontier ships do that very well, and the designers had the balls to put the extra guns in-game, too. I guess it takes a special kind of specialness just to put extra guns on the cover that make the ship look worse than it does ingame, though. Oh Square.

What, no love for the Silvergun?

It's been my favorite ship design for ages. I especially love seeing the wings adjust when moving forward/backward.

The Ikaruga ship is too ornamental for me, even though it's quite stylish.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
