DVDO Edge PS2 Upscaling
About to purchase a DVDO Edge Green specifically for 480i consoles. Would the Edge be good for this purpose? Right now my PS2 specifically looks very washed out and jaggy on my HDTV. I'm hoping that with the upscaling it'll look playable. I figured that the Edge would be best since it has a gamemode. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

The Edge is great for 480i when NOT in gamemode. Gamemode reduces 480i to single-field scaling (the processor just takes 240 lines and interpolates them).

But it's so slow with Gamemode disabled. It may be ok for RPGs, but nothing else.

So is it even worth it? I was planning on getting a new T.V. soon anyway and Sony I believe has a game mode that looks good when displaying ps2 and psp games.

Yeah but at least it gives you the choice between picture quality and input lag, unlike the mini say which seems to have the same input lag regardless of deinterlacing mode.
My strategy with PS2 games goes like this:-
GSM Mode selector on anything you can to get it into 480p
Edge with game mode off for RPG's that won't go into 480p (Played through FF12 like this, seemed fine, set your TV to game mode if you can, helps if your TV's very low lag)
Edge with game mode ON for those titles that need fast reactions and won't go into 480p. There's a little flicker but it's not too bad.
XRGB for anything in 240p (because that just gives a black screen on the Edge Green usually, keep that in mind!)
