Runs should be recorded in full and then distributed online probably through youtube. More info on that later. May take some time to edit videos.

Other news :
Kamui, NAK and TAC have arrived in France. They were welcomed at the Airport by ALFARABI which is a regular French shmup forum member who volunteered to greet them there and accompany them to their next train. They drank coffee in Paris and are now resting in a country house. I've heard they are very excited to be here and amazed at the differences... :)
Sounds awesome with the videos and all. Once again I hope you all have an great and successful event 8) Also me too think you should try get the Japanese players to try NEO XYX!

Good timing! All stages at Stunfest are being streamed, including the shooting game stream. We're running behind a bit, but we should be up soon. T3-KAMUI even brought his own Astro City control panel with the hardware auto fire buttons for this. :D

You'll find the streams at: http://stunfest.fr/stream

This is awesome by the way. The arena is huge!

Are the streams available to watch later? I have the Futari run on now on my Nexus 7 but I'm at work so it's background video really.

Looks cool though! Amazing work from everone involved! :D

from last year words, friday is the coolest day , not much pressure from public and quite easy access to all machines (except fighting arenas reserved for special pass players). last year, saturday-sunday was overcrowed by mainstream visitors.. perhaps this year the rising price access will calm some.

yep i hope we'll have precise stories as nearly all french shmuppers around know each other or meet on occasions, Olisan put here some sessions pictures of Alfarabi place in the past.

as yet in french forum, we have only glances or quick words about this tremendous thing !. some snapshots of kamui play can be found.

https://twitter.com/DamDamOfficial/stat ... 64/photo/1

there are words too, that in the next week all Paris players who missed the stunfest will meet the 3 stars at the infamous "Arcade street" place :)

CHI . if the weather is good. you can sleep out in town. we are several to have survived this previous years  . adds to the feeling of a drunk incredible stunfest experience

Four things from Day One at Stunfest you guys who didn't get to attend will have definitely missed.

1) T3-KAMUI doesn't need to be sat at the cab to play Battle Garegga. (Note the can of Coke on the Shot button.)
http://i.imgur.com/2p6N1ns.jpg

2) DamDam, a French female shooting game player, puts the majority of this forum to shame with how good she is at shooting games.
http://i.imgur.com/1f3uFuy.jpg

3) Clover-TAC sighted playing Great Mahou Daisakusen. (And at the same time, T3-KAMUI sighted playing Garegga with Miyamoto.)
http://i.imgur.com/JZvoYax.jpg

4) Our Japanese friends were very happy to sign autographs. Much thanks to them for taking the time to come over and mingle with us.
http://i.imgur.com/EbJFFDq.jpg

Day two will be fun: NAK will be running Futari BL God again; Clover-TAC demonstrates Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (which is awesome by the way, totally stoked for the X360 port now); and the Raizing fans in our group are planning to session Batrider and Garegga for the whole day. Also, shooting games, fighting games, and speedruns.

Thanks, Icarus. I had an odd urge to up and quit shmups forever after this post. Not sure why, but I detected a crushed soul dissipating over TAC's shoulder...maybe that had something to do with it.

I hear there's a rapidly growing One Piece Mansion community rising from the ashes of the old counterstrike universe; maybe I'll check it out.

Well, windshield on the car was frozen this morning, so I hope nobody froze to death last night xD

Friday was definitely amazing, looking forward to today and tommorow :) (sdoj by TAC for instance)

It's kinda ridiculous none of us thought of taking extra J-360s and shmups for getho freeplay (or pal AKS, DDPDFK, DS) If I make next year, I'll sure to take 360s with me !

I feel bad for you guys since commentaries and everything is in french though, but we'll do our best to be good hosts and translate as much as possible :)

30 mins to go until Mushi! Super keen to see the SDOJ run by TAC. Looks like everyone is having a great time and the event is a big success!

Edit: didn't see above. What's the actual schedule then? TAC for 12 noon CET for SDOJ? What's following that?

Was that a first by TAC just now? I've never seen the TLB completed before!

Such an exciting run too, I was literally screaming at my monitor when he got to the final form of TLB. Exciting!

Yup, that was him :D

He said he played a run to show the TLB and 1cc the game and show the scoring mechanism at play in a superplay.
It was striking how calm he was while playing!

He explained at the end why he bombed manually 3bombs out of his 4 in stock at the 3rd stage, it was at an empty spot to lower the rank while not hurting his scoring potential (spot with no enemies for a while) he still kept one bomb in stock for auto-bomb as a safety net. (Auto bombs are lowering the rank less than manual bombing)

The hyper gauge recharging while in hyper mode was explained too, from what I got but I could be wrong you have to start your hyper 12sec before killing a big enemy, which pops a shit load of medals at the EXACT TIME you got out of hyper mode. (Hence the HY-HY-HY-HYPER sound effect ensuing for a 4 gauge refill)

He said he was glad he got to show the game and his play from Japan in France and that shmups are solo games (stunfest is mostly big for multiplayer arcade games) and performance in them is to be considered like art or halfpipe skateboarding for example) and that he hoped he inspired the crowd to try the shmups on arcade freeplay on stunfest.

My feeling is that he held back a bit(a lot?) on how much he could score...superplay DVD in the works? Probably :)

If there is a superplay DVD it would be good to be able to turn the commentary off. No offence to the guys speaking because they were really good, they created a great atmosphere especially at the TLB. But it would be nice to have the option of just watching the gameplay.

I'm amazed if he did hold back, though it's understandable. He might have felt a bit pressured to do his best and 1cc because a lot of people were expecting him to be amazing. Just the fact the event organizers even have them there is amazing enough I think!

What time is Garegga on? All I see is Twinbee right now.

I meant a Japanese DVD :)

But yeah, I agree, the comments were aimed at boosting the crowd, and explain the game mostly for casual players and about the pressure of a live event too :)

Not sure about Garega though.

It just so happened that I had time to watch Clover-TAC play SDOJ, and it was glorious. It was funny when the French guys called him up to the stage at the credit roll, but he stuck around to enter his initials into the high score board before going there. I wonder who's board he played on? That would be awesome to have a Clover-TAC score on one's own PCB. ~_>

It's 3.42am and I'm shattered. So many great highlights (with pics and vids incoming) from a jam-packed Saturday including:

1. An impromptu Garegga run by T3-Kamui late in the evening, another 18mil+ uncleared credit, but far more fun to watch as we were watching right over her shoulder.
2. A great chat with all three players, about games and our gaming communities on both sides of the world. Many eyes opened on both sides, great things happening in the future.
3. A scoring competition on Batrider Advanced between myself, DEL and Plasmo, that went on for the whole day.
4. Clover-TAC joins us for a game of Progear and 1-ALL's it on his first attempt for 23mil+.
5. Miku Hatsune playing Futari BL Original.
6. Getting an unexpected but totally amazing gift from T3-KAMUI.
7. Amazing noise from the fighting game contingent. (Ryan Hart in the house!)
8. Prometheus demoing Dodonpachi Daioujou in the late evening.
9. Speedruns all over the place.
10. Seeing the place jam-packed with probably 1,000+ people.
11. RZG scoring 13mil+ on Great Mahou.
12. See some of the comedy pictures and messages KAMUI was drawing on her iPad and holding in front of the streaming cameras.

But I'll leave you with the best one.

Image

That's an ALL, by the way. I'll let you work out the actual score yourselves.
