Fuck Cave, go give Batrider Normal a try. Fairly easy (just be sure not to trigger extra last bosses and you'll be fine), and much more fun than any Cave.

You overestimate its difficulty. Learn where the health pick ups are, especially important is the full health pick up on stage 6, if you can reach that then you've basically already won provided you know what's coming next. Really all you need to know is how to cancel bullets with the spirit (maybe tricky at first) and the health locations as I mentioned and the rest is fairly easy provided you memorize a bit of the levels and you use bombs for more difficult sections such as the end of stage 5.

If you're very bad at keeping a good overview of what is going on during a stage, you will inevitably move into bullets a lot while using the spirit to take down enemies. Even that is fixable by some memorization/strategies and bomb planning.

Forget Batrider Normal, play Advanced pls. Zenovia City is too good to skip.

Advanced is fucking hard, though. Rank management actually becomes a concern in Advanced (and rank management in Batrider, at least to my understanding of the system, is a lot tougher than rank management in Garegga or Bakraid), whereas you can beat Normal without worrying about it.

1cc-ed all the iOS Cave.

(On normal)

Damn is it easy when you can fly around the screen at will, but it feels great. Gonna do the harder difficulties/modes when I have some free time, doesn't seem like it will put up too much of a fight though. Tried out iOS Futari Black Label's boss rush mode too, going against the Mushihimesama original boss set. Got to boss number 65 on my first try, pretty sure thats near the end of the rush. Not too shabby, but it took forever.

It's not that hard. There are some difficult sections but Batrider is super lenient with bombing, so. Rank management doesn't have to be complicated. Don't pick up items that won't do you any good (Shot or Option items when maxed out) and never pick up a third life unless It's at the end of the game. If you want to chain medals, then avoid 100-400 point ones like the plague unless you are confident/hell bent on scoring. Anything more than that is unnecessary when going for a simple clear.

Normal may be easier but I think Advanced is way more awesome and that's why I recommend it. Credit feed if you must, it just has to be experienced.

Mushi Original clear, yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!

Image

Frankly I'm somewhat surprised I didn't get this a while earlier, back when I was playing Mushi more often. I gave it a couple shots while going for the Maniac clear, but it just never clicked. This run was totally unexpected, and there's some laughable play (particularly to the final boss, who I just bombed through), but I'm still really happy. :3

Sure took me a while. Bought Akai Katana when it came out. Tried it. Found it bad. Shelved it.
Picked it up again yesterday. Played for 2-3 hours. And now...

1cc Get. Seriously, Slash mode is so easy but it's also a lot of fun. The phantom mode making you invulnerable (as in not dying upon getting hit) is a feature that I ended up appreciating. Sure it made this tons easier but it also meant that I could make all sorts of cool dodges without risking death if i failed them.

Lost my first life at the midboss of Stage 6 because my phantom ran out and I ran straight into a bullet. Derp.
Second life against Ayame and Ran. Third against the TLB. Bombs are OP. Anyway, just wanted to post that i cleared it. Fun game though pretty easy. Good for beginners maybe. Awesome visuals and music. My score is shit, i do not care lol. Blog post. I apologize.

The TLB requirement is to no-miss all 6 stages. You cleared the regular final boss.

Yeah, if you'd actually beaten the TLB you would've also gotten a different ending from the standard one.

Huh? there's a TLB beyond the Stage 7 boss? Didn't know that.

Is the TLB a replacement for the Stage 7 boss or something that appears after you clear the regular Stage 7 boss?

It's an entire replacement of the boss fight. Still three phases and nothing special, just harder patterns to dodge.

I was going by the hiscore thread codes, All EX, not All EX2. I don't even know the requirements to bring out the 2nd one, do you know what they are? The run is up on my YT channel.

Thanks. It took lots of practice and planning. I bombspammed the Golden Asshole. I can beat the stage 5 boss with just hypers but played it safe this run and gave him the BS too.

The only thing I remember is that you need to finish every boss with a full Red meter. Pretty sure the miss/bee requirements are pretty steep too, but don't think it quite requires a no-miss.

Kind of a small thing, but I finally managed to get past the first stage of Gundeadligne on Demonic difficulty playing as someone who isn't Nagi.

Not a clear, but a goal I've been shooting for since December:

Finally got past Garegga stage 5! First time I've ever beaten Black Heart, and I no-missed him even!

(Then, I got raped about 5 seconds into stage 6...)

Very nice Pestro! Love that you're giving the japanese guys a run for their money. And yes, chempop, Ginga Force is just overall decent. The story mode is fun and the Score Attack stages really get spicy in Hard. I generally enjoy most of the stages. Some give or take. Ginga Force is no Ketsui in terms of raw scoring potential... it's just a solid, shmup in the modern day. Reminds ya why we like the genre, I think.

I got the 1cc in Dangun Feveron recently but I'm especially happy now that I nailed it on a buddies candy cab. After a few seperate nights of attempts, tonight I nailed it--bombing the shit out of the last boss and ending with a 3.5M. .5M improvement over my 2nd 1cc score of 3M. Hitting it on the real thing is pretty cool, and even after embarrassingly accusing my buddie's stick of being an octaganol gate (it was Seimitsu). I completely forgot that they feel a little weird around the corners. My bad! (my sticks are all Sanwa)

Thanks guys! :) It's a pretty cool game with kick ass music, good (and varied) stage/boss design and fast paced action. I think that Score Attack on Hard is where the game truly shines though. I really like the scoring mechanic as it feels pretty unique and I'm always left with a feeling of "I could have gotten a higher score if I had...". I also find myself always wanting to do just one more run :) Also

PoDD - chiyuri lunatic 1cc

This is by far the hardest clear in Touhou and I grinded my ass off for it. very difficult and I am proud to have done it. it's so hard that 5 people in the west have done it until now, to give you an idea

yeah, pretty much that. in the west, anyway. there are obviously more people in japan and korea who have done it. of course, this being a PC-98 game is part of it since they aren't played as much, but it being hard is definitely the bigger reason. I might also add that one of the 1ccs was a pacifist run, which makes PoDD a lot easier than it should be. (I don't know if there's anyone out there who thinks that something as silly as that is really worth their time, but I don't think it is) of course it cripples your score, but if the clear itself is all you want without huge amounts of grinding

Congrats on this insane feat. So the people that cleared now are Zil, flanpop, Jaimers, myself and you, don't think I'm missing anyone. Considered how few people even attempted it (to my knowledge) it's pretty cool that there are 5 clears tbh.

I would love to see more people try to get this clear. It is the most satisfying clear I've done by a considerable amount.
