So what exactly is Henry Hatsworth? I don't believe that I've actually heard of it before.
Simultaneous Platformer/Puzzler. While you platform, there's a puzzle screen running. If you don't tend to the puzzle screen, enemies materialize out of it into the platform game. When in puzzle mode you can get items that will benefit you in platform mode. Platform game is pretty dang solid and the lighthearted story/humor is delightful. Basically you are an explorer searching out pieces of a golden gentleman's suit. You have many enemies thwarting your success, all of which are pretty creative. Fabio looking boss that sings to you the whole battle? Believe it.

Interesting concept. Sounds like it might get a bit tedious, but if I come across it I will definitely check it out.

It does a bit ... I find that it kind of gets in the way of the platforming, which is perfectly great in it's own respect.

Getting interrupted at regular intervals and being forced to play Bejeweled (basically) gets old quickly. I stopped playing it because of that.

Monster Tale is by the same developer, and instead of the puzzle nonsense, you have a pet monster companion that kind of lives on the bottom screen, and you call him up to help you battle enemies or solve puzzles as needed. You feed him different things and he evolves into different forms and learns special attacks. Overall I found it much better integrated into the main gameplay than the puzzle game is in Hatsworth. And the action/platforming is a bit more solid as well, and has a definite Metroidvania vibe to it with a very large map and several distinct areas to explore.

Nice presentation, enjoyable characters/setting, somewhat lackluster to actually play, IMO. Not terrible overall, but it can be a bit of a slog sometimes.

Actually the puzzle is a clone of Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon, not Bejeweled (thank goodness), though I do admit that the stop-and-start can be irritating when you're "in the groove" on the top screen. That said, as you play more you'll find the puzzle not just a necessity to keep returning enemies from bothering you but an indispensable survival tool, since doing well at it charges your special attack meter, which can not only be expended for (duh) special attacks but will partially refill your health if you can clear enough blocks out at the right time (and since "enemy" blocks charge you up faster then "regular" ones there's a risk/reward factor at work, as you might want to let a few of them creep closer to the top in the name of saving them for when you need the boost).

I can see why some people might not be big on it, but I absolutely love Henry Hatsworth, myself: in any case you've definitely got to try the thing and see how it strikes you.

This should be on my porch when I get home. Really excited.

Did TWEWY make this list?

Never could get it working with my Supercard ... probably should just emulate it instead.

Or buy it lol. But it's expensive!

I tend to buy consoles at this point of their lifecycles, but with the DS, its crippled backwards compatibility makes me reluctant. GBA SP rocks too hard for me to just replace it with a DS (rather, I fancy buying one of those backlit AGS-101 at a high price).
You see, I can't think of a single DS game I covet BADLY. Until recently I wanted Strange Journey this way, but as I crawl through Lucifer's Call/Nocturne (2nd playthrough), it dawns on me that I'd rather get some life beforehand.
What DS games are of utmost essentiality for you, internet people? Just to clarify, I realise that craving for stuff badly and considering it essential in hindsight are slightly different things.
As for me, I bought PS2 for MGS3 (having played it at my mate's place already, so it wasn't just a thing of hype), but these days I consider Sky Odyssey to be THE console's crown jewel (granted, it would be most likely just about as good on the DC, but it's not on DC, it's on the PS2, so there you go).
Bought Wii for backwards compatibility and S&P2, but here I am, massively hooked on Excite Truck, on the verge of making TrackMania for the Wii my first ever TrackMania, while my SMG copy remains useald (it's been months already).
I'm curious what's that particulary prized DS game for those of you who care to tell.

Copy from the DS-retirement thread:

A game you probably haven't played and that's quite unusual for DS: Nanashi no Game (The Nameless Game), a horror adventure title. It wasn't published outside of Japan, but there is a fan translation (I think 1.2 is the latest release).

Another recommended adventure game is 999 (recently got a sequel on PSV/3DS). 999 was only released in the US and Japan, but since DS games aren't region locked, go import if you don't live there!

I thought yours would get locked because this one already existed. When I made the above post, your thread had 0 replies.

I think merging would be nice, but seriously glad to see the NDS getting enough love to warrant three (maybe 4?) threads about it. No reason to fight over the love :)
