Did anyone see the screenshot posted on Twitter yesterday evening?

I admit it left a couple of sweaty loaves bouncing around my undies after I saw it! Ghost Blade would appear to be more than just a Caravan game, it looks to be a danmaku Caravan game going by the screenshot posted.

Don't forget they promised an alpha preview video this week! 8)

Is there a particular reason to order from Play Asia over direct from Hucast?

Extreme laziness (setting up yet another account, remembering yet another password).
Extreme paranoia (I avoid handing over my bank account details to yet another potential security risk if I can help it).
Extreme trust issues (basically, I just don't already have an account with them, and I've never ordered from them before).

Apparently my inherent mistrust of any and all humans is something out of the ordinary, but then... oh, wait: have I mentioned I'm not human?

Looks really nice. Bullet speed maybe a little slow, also the ship looks almost invisible, but it's alpha so maybe it's that.
I'm hyped atleast. Hope we get to see any footage of the Caravan Mode, thats what I am most hyped about. CARAVAN STG LOVE!!!!

I snapped a picture of the packaging shown at the end to get a closer look at the LE. Also from this picture, it looks like they will be going for 500 CE copies - so those should be up for grabs soon.

I think it looks brilliant (for alpha status). Personal points I had with the video though:

- Looks too slow. Needs to be more 'in your face'. A fast moving ship, like Star Soldier, with some decent scrolling pace.
- The cluster bullets look like they've been lifted straight from Fast Striker. They don't suit the game 'look' at all.
- The dynamic backgrounds look amazing but obviously need work. Right now they feel like gifs tacked on.
- The main pink bullets still look like orbs and not distinctive enough.
- The music is almost there, just needs to lose a bit more of the 'euro' edge to it.
- Some vapor trails behind the ship engine (like mirage waves/heat ripples) would look good.
- The boss fight needs to feel more manic, more reckless, maybe some speed lines or some sort of effect like that might help?

Just some initial thoughts but personally I think it's shaping up to be a brilliant Winter 2013! Can't wait for my CE to arrive! :D

All very good points, it needs more tanks and enemies in general I think. I hate to say it because I'm not a scanline snob but I think it needs them.

Great job so far though can't wait to see how this shooter is going to develop.

but it's a genuine 31khz game, so running it on a tri-sync cab wouldn't give you the classic 240p scanlines either.

The transparency wears off after the first craft is destroyed - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFWS2TBKi4w#t=00m38s. It is called GHOST Blade - so the transparency may indicate some special attack mode.

The pics looked awesome; watched the video, was not impressed. Reminds me a bit of DDPSDOJ, but with a Pink Sweets-esque ship. The only thing I like about it are the backgrounds; the enemies look boring and/ or like nothing specific, everything moves too slow, not enough bullets, most bullets look really doujin-ish, and the music has that sickly sweet generic j-trancey vibe. I know it's an alpha, but if things keep moving in that direction it looks like it's going to be a real snoozefest.

For me, the water kinda ruined the look. I realise it's an alpha, just saying.
Not sure at the moment how best to solve that. Even static would have looked better. Maybe a less pronounced, almost imperceptible level of movement would work better.

Sounds cool to me actually, besides that it needs more bullets and enemies that are easy to add imho.

More bullets, more enemies = Win

Yeah, none of the pics' awesomeness seems to be in the trailer, hate those bullets, or maybe I just don't understand their style.

Yeah like colorcycling, except actual colorcyling probably wouldn't fit the prerendered graphics.

The only problem I had with it was the speed, but that can easily be fixed as this video is early in the game's development.

Also this is insignificant, but the music didn't really mix with what was going on in the stage. At about 0:48, usually something like that would be a mini boss in other shooting games... maybe I'm just so used to CAVE's games or similar games that it feels weird to see a new shooting game not doing something like this.

There are no game sounds yet but only music so that gives a dull impression, some explosions and rattling sounds should spice things up .

I'm hoping the explosions could be taken up a notch. They aren't bad the way they are now, but seem small and like a "puff" of air. I was kind of hoping for more particle filled explosions a la Ibara, with explosions that are full of scraps of metal and broad rings of fire, which would put more motion/animation on the screen, and increase the tension with the added busyness.

I've thrown up too, after watching that weird, twitching ocean water. They could have gone for an SNK/KOF style animated background and made it look far better than that. This game looks little more than a bland, European DDP ripoff. Between this and NG Dev's repeat failures to make something worthwhile, I'm not so keen on keeping the Dreamcast development going if it's just stuff like this. I realize the video is just a beta, but it just looks like a DDP clone, and probably doesn't control as well to boot.

I'm sure I can't be the only one who isn't impressed with these lackluster homebrew shmups.

I don't even like DDP that much... The game looks slow, boring, and... well, basically every problem that plagued 90s shareware games. Looks ghetto as fuck.

If your game looks like shit, you shouldn't be attempting to show it off. Even if it's in alpha. Wonder why I haven't publicly shown anything of my CPS2 game? Because it looks like shit right now.

Oh wow It's you again. You hate all games that are in Alpha state, well I remember you from the Neo XYX thread. Nevermind.
