Here is a video of game concept I was doing for Housemarque back in 2002-2003. We got it as far as playable prototype, but we couldn't find a publisher so the project was shelved. I was finally allowed to upload this onto youtube, since this is already quite old. So why not share it here. As you see, I tried to do something that was quite different to what has been published so far. Maybe that is why it never got picked up.
More info about the project can be found in the video description.

I keep expecting that dragon to flip the Reboot character off into its mouth
That's a lot of levels of detail, worlds within worlds.
I'd definitely buy a copy, or ten.

Looks very moody and relaxing.
Would TOTALLY buy.
The only part I don't like is the guy/girl riding the dragon.

Looks pretty relaxing! Shame it got cancelled, it seems like something I would have fun with. And that's the happiest Orta I've ever seen.
Re: Video of my old game project..
Rockin' vid, G. Too bad about the cancellation, but it lives on in our youtube memories!
Re: Video of my old game project..
Thanks for the comments. I seriously doubt if this game could exist in today's industry, and maybe it's better this way. I seriously shudder when I think what our current publisher would do to this.
Comic version I made does exist though, I will put translated versions on comixology once I got time to finish the lettering. Some samples can be found in: http://www.lopunpera.fi

Couldn't put my hands on what the physics remind me of, but now it dawns on me - Hotsuma's scarf in Shinobi (2002).
So, Sega didn't want it, did they?

No, sega did not. From all the publishers Nintendo was the most interested party. It first went through Nintendo europe, which passed it onto Nintendo japan, and then after 6 months of waiting we were told that they passed on it. They also said that it was their policy to not give reason as why.Obiwanshinobi wrote:Couldn't put my hands on what the physics remind me of, but now it dawns on me - Hotsuma's scarf in Shinobi (2002).

If there's one thing that bugs me, it's the huge number of coins required to be collected before progressing to another level. Should've cut that in half IMO.
Also you could probably recreate a good deal of it in Unity fairly quickly ..

Reminds me of Treasure's Stretch Panic/Hippa Linda, which had an undeniably fascinating visual style in spite of its poor game design.

Re: Video of my old game project..
Please remember that this was thrown together by few people in three/four months, so it was just an early proto. I would have liked to develop it further, but director of the company wanted to sell it on design document, which did not obviously work.
