No, that`s not it either. If someone develops a theory(thesis), it leads to the development of an opposing theory(antithesis). The interaction of the contradicting theories prompts the creation of a new theory(synthesis). A new antithesis is born as a reaction to the synthesis and the cycle repeats itself. There is little (or no) doubt that van der Lubbe did it. There is zero evidence anyone else did it.
And while van der Lubbe was indeed a communist (and a simpleton), of course it wasn't a communist conspiracy like the nazis claimed, either - but they were big conspiracy nuts, too. After all their belief in a Jewish world conspiracy was part of their core ideology.
No-one is denying that the Reichstag fire was a stroke of luck for the nazis which they masterfully used to their advantge (to consolidate their power and get rid of communists in Germany right before the general election). Much like 9/11 was a stroke of luck for Bush and the American conservatives. That doesn't mean they had a hand in it.

No, he was not rehabilitated. The original sentence against him was nullified; he had been sentenced to death for high treason in combination with premeditated arson in 1933.
In 1967 a German court came to the conclusion that this judgment was politically motivated and it was retroactively altered to a prison sentence. Because no-one had died as a result of the arson, he should not have been sentenced to death according to the laws of the time. Furthermore, there were signs of diminished capcity.
Then, as a result of the German law to overturn all unjust nazi judgments, the original judgment from 1933 was nullified completely in 2007. That does not mean Marinus van der Lubbe was innocent or didn't start the Reichstag fire.

That's the thing, van der Lubbe was not rehabilitated; only the original judgement against him was overturned (because it was in violation of existing law in 1933). Since you brought up the name: Even Reinhard Hillebrand himself who was responsible for having the unjust judgment overturned said in an interview that van der Lubbe most likely was the perpetrator.

Anyway, my original point was that every single part of this statement is incorrect.

Hitler did not burn down the Reichstag, he did not blame the Russians for it and did not use it as a casus belli for the war against Russia (which he started 8 years later).
The Reichstag was most likely burned down by a sole Dutch communist. Hitler used the Reichstag fire to take out the German communists and establish his dictatorship (Enabling Act of 1933).

I'm not sure why you're harping on this statement so much. It seems like just an example of how a false flag operation can garner public support for a planned action. There are many examples of false flag operations, and they are designed to decieve, so the Hitler example could very well be true.

You don't have to look at Germany, we have examples of this behavior from the US Government. Take a look at the Operation Northwoods documents. We know for a fact that top military officials proposed for the CIA to commit terrorism (hijackings, bombings, even in US cities) and blame it on Cuba as a pretext to invade.

The plan called for U.S. personnel to disguise themselves as agents of the Cuban government and to engage in terrorist attacks on the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay. The Family Guy scenes aren't fabricated, though, just from two different parts of the episode. There's no conspiracy involved, but it's kind of bitchy for Seth MacFarlane to be OK with producing an episode that has scenes of the protagonist killing runners at the Boston marathon and detonating concealed bombs, then say what's abhorrent is playing those scenes back to back.

I'm not sure why you're harping on this statement so much.

Several reasons, first and foremost because everything stated by DEL was slightly off (the historical facts are different), and because the Reichstag fire itself was not a false flag operation; for all we know the fire was not a nazi plot. The nazis didn't do it and make it look like a communist did it, the perp actually was a communist. At first, the nazis just incorrectly believed it to be a larger communist conspiracy and the beginning of a communist uprising in Germany. Hitler (who by the time of the fire had been chancellor for less than a month) then proceeded to cleverly use the Reichstag fire to establish his dictatorship.

Since you quoted Wikipedia, allow me to do the same: "False flag (or black flag) describes covert military or paramilitary operations designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by other entities, groups or nations than those who actually planned and executed them."

For instance, when Hitler wanted to attack Poland in 1939, he needed a reason for doing so. So the SS staged a Polish attack on a German Radio station (Gleiwitz incident), they wore Polish uniforms and left a dead concentration camp inmate (who they killed for this purpose) dressed up in a Polish uniform at the scene. Now *that* was a false flag operation.

9/11 on the other had was no false flag operation, either. The Bush administration simply used it to its advantage; if not for 9/11 allowing those who pulled the strings of George W. to set in motion the events that followed, a Democrat would have replaced Bush in the White House in 2004.

So this is a fine conspiracy theorist bash, simmering over nicely and should be turning a golden brown by around half-past the hour.

I tried to bring some sensible clarity to the not entirely irrelevant reasons as to why conspiracy theories germinate a little while back, but no-one gave a shit (which is fine, no probs.)

Let me try rephrasing:

I don't agree with DEL, I think his beliefs are far too extreme and taken leave of the realities they were borne from. However, if conspiracy theories like the one he subscribes to could be visualised as an enormous ladder, so ridiculously tall that it's bending and teetering at its peak, it would still consist of around one factually relevant rung in every ten.

That is to say, the foundation of wild conspiracy theories exist for good reason, but they end up obscuring the rungs of truth with all the hyperbole. Kind of an own worst enemy deal. Were the world actually run by a bunch of mischievous Jews with a NWO plan to shepherd us all into gulags and forced labour camps, they would probably be really happy with the conspiracy crew for making it all sound like utter farce.

The problem is, you're all standing around shouting tin-foil hats and poking fun, before going back to your 9-5, scrimping a living, and accepting this is the way things are meant to be. You obviously haven't watched Network.

North Korea isn't about to launch a nuclear missile. Visit China and you might have to look a lot harder for an iron rule where people's liberties are constantly pulled from under their feet: at least you'll need to ignore one of the most head-spinningly fast developing nations on earth pumping out a new millionaire every day - at the west's expense. You won't get that story though, because it makes your government look like they've done a real shitty job of looking after your economic welfare.

Do you really think you got the whole truth about 9/11? Weren't there elements of the news coverage that ever made you take the flag away from your eyes and think for a moment, "hold on, that doesn't make a great deal of sense."
Do beautiful buildings standing completely unaffected by plane crashes really just free fall from 'internal fires started by debris', and did you ever question why Larry Silverstien, the leaseholder of the property, stated "We decided to pull it" on a September 2002 PBS documentary, contradicting the official story? Either way, something isn't right. Why would you decide to 'pull' a building in the midst of an enormous terrorist attack, and how did you rig it to blow?

Before anyone responds, I don't have the truth: I just want you to keep in mind that you're being lied to all the time, so whatever the truth is, you've never been given it.

None of the above are conspiracies, they should be viewed only as questions. I'm not saying Al Quaeda didn't fly a plane into the WTC, I'm not saying the world is run by Jewish megalomaniacs with a new world order to RFID chip you. I'm just saying you should be very skeptical of what you're told, and pissed off that you need to be skeptical at all.

Why did the BBC and German news networks show me fake footage of Tibetan riots and change the subtitles of a woman being interviewed on television?

Why did British newspapers crop photographs of Tibetan rioters assaulting downed police officers to change the tone of the image?

Why are so many Presidents and Prime Ministers masons? Is that a trend I should be interested in?

Are elections really free and democratic, or is someone hand picking these chumps for me? If so, why? That's not what I signed up for.

Why can't I trust news media to be impartial?

Why can't I trust news media to provide the truth?

Has my government ever conducted a false flag operation to serve their interests? If the answer is yes, what would stop them doing the same thing again?



If conspiracy theorists could stick to these rungs and make something of them, we might be getting somewhere with regards to education and pressure on bodies meant to be working in our interests, but failing. We might be able to address the enormous inequality in our present system, and force change. Alas, conspiracy theorists tend to take good questions and create such fantasy that no-one will give the time of day. Evidence: this thread.
