Pulstar Stage select MVS

MAWS and other sources list this as a trick on the MVS:

Stage Select : Hold down A+B+C+D on both sides, then highlight a stage and let the timer activate the stage.

Stage 1 becomes Stage 5.
Stage 2 becomes Stage 6.
Stage 3 becomes Stage 7.
Stage 4 becomes the final Stage.

Can anyone here achieve this? The moment I put my fingers on the buttons the timer does not time out and it selects the level. This is on a real MVS with a real cart I've tried it with all 4 fingers placed on the panel from the start as well.

this cheat non exist. NOT WORK, is FAKE.

Yeah there are very few Neo cheats that work on the MVS games themselves, most all are for the NeoCD versions and/or AES.
