Yeah, almost certainly pre-rendered. I bet that ocean isn't even animated 8)

Probably scrolls sideways. :)

I have a nice hack for doing water, you basically take the water texture and then render it on top of itself again using a normal map/distortion filter and scroll that layer at a different speed to your diffuse texture. Works surprisingly well and doesn't look terribly shit

If you stare at it really hard with nothing going on screen, it might look slightly wrong - but in motion or still captures, it looks fine.

Only thing I don't like are the purple ball bullets. They look strange. But if the game actually looks like that, damn.. I need it.

I know this will be unpopular to say, but I wish this was on PC instead. Still, looks very promising.

Noticed the Hucast folks were running a Ghost Blade competition via their Facebook page.
300th like gets the #300 copy https://www.facebook.com/hucastgames

...although looking down the comments, DUX 1.5 & 1.0 get mentioned as prizes

Maybe René (or Chris) can throw down more information.
Anyway ... "The like winners will be alotted on the 28th Feb."

Not instead, but aswell as. :)

Do companies like Hucast actually survive off older systems entirely, or do they have other ventures to keep them afloat?

No idea, I don't know much about ports and stuff, but is it hard to port a Dreamcast game to PC? Also pirating can't stop them either? I mean playing backups on Dreamcast is the most easy thing ever
But either way Im still glad to see new Dreamcast stuff! But I wouldnt mind to have a copy on Steam or something else on PC 8)

89.95 Euros ($117.52)?!? I about choked when I read that price, and sure will wait for the RE. This is high compared to some of the Japanese LEs.

If there's a PC port for Steam, I'm surely in.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

After my personal disappointment in Gunhound LE, I'll watch out for some video of this. But it's a caravan style game, so I think it's a safe bet it'll be good.

Between this and the Triangle Service releases, it's been a surprisingly active time for people in the hobby :D

Can someone clue me in one what a "Caravan" mode is?

I don't know what it is about the style, but I like what I see so far. I'd really like to see it in action before plunking down the moolah.

"Caravan" = timed score attack, generally in 2- or 5-minute sections.

I'd be very surprised if these DC shmups are their main gig, or that they're treated as anything more than a hobby/vanity project by the devs.

Hucast posted several new screens, all from stage 4. Has the same sci-fi boat in the water from the previous post, but looks like it's been slightly revised.

apart from the purple pearls, these are the best shmup related screenshots I have ever seen.
The main ship needs to look a bit meaner though.

I caved in and pre-ordered it a week or so ago. Also, while waiting for a video to render, and after 9 cans of beer last night, I also ordered the Ghost Blade poster.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for caravan/Carnival shooting games.

EDIT: Looks like the CE is now sold out! Glad I got my order in now, those last few sold super quick!

Definitely interested in seeing more. This game looks gorgeous and I love caravan shooters, but I didn't really enjoy Dux at all. So a video would sell or unsell me on this.

Increase the Ghost Blade CE Production Run

:?

What is up with the &#@! Facebook polls? Here's an idea - put up the pre-order and find out how many copies you need. No need to break the bank based on an overly enthusiastic poll.

Well, they had their issues in the past but I never saw any request for extra money coming from Hucast.
