Nintendo is digging their own grave I swear! I have no more respect for Nintendo which is sad because they are the ones who introduced me to videogames.

All of a sudden, an Xbox seems pretty tempting to me and I hate Microsoft. Weird huh?

Who cares? The PS2 dev kits were a "nightmare" for 3rd parties too but they got around it after awhile. It'll be no different with the Rev development kits/libraries too I am sure. Nintendo just needs to stop pretending to be the "belle of the ball" and treat their third parties more like associates, which i read they have improved on but still need more work.

The Cartridge format only made it easier for a working N64 Emulator to emerge in early 1999. Nevermind the regeion free nature of the N64 arcitechture (all physical lockout. . .no software involved).

Didn't Nintendo feel carts were the safer format since discs could be broken easily?

I don't think the N64 would have looked better even if using discs. Pixels and all, Vagrant Story and MGS look better than Zelda and Mario 64.

After all, they talor to the kiddies. You don't want them to cry over a broken CD now do you?

Doesn't explain the Gamecube discs though; a kid could be dumb enough to accidently swallow one.

Sorry to say Specci, but you are most certainly wrong on both you're assumption and you're observation. IMHO of course.

Not particularly suprising really. The GC has never been a huge seller and now with the lack of new stuff coming out for it sales are only going to continue to decline. I bought mine about three months ago becuase it was so inexpensive and I was in one of my "I'm sick of the PC tweaking dance" phases and just wanted some pick up and play games. I was completely aware that it had a small catalog and I think if you go in with that understanding, it's a great deal. The two Metroid Prime games are some of the best videogames I 've ever played - haven't enjoyed a first person game as much since the original DOOM. Soul Calibur II is every bit as good as the first one was on the DC (my favorite system of all time). I picked up NBA Street V2 for less than 20 bucks and it's a whoot. Same goes for F-ZeroGX. I plan to get RE4 and SSX on Tour at some point (or maybe SSX3, haven't made up my mind yet) and Ikaruga if I can find it anywhere...anyway, I guess what I'm saying is at under a hundred bucks CDN for a system with Metroid Prime and two controllers, I don't really need a 1000 game library (960 of which likely suck anyway) to have gotten my moneys worth...

This thread is full of sarcasm and insults. I'm offended. The Playstation is superb powered and destroys the competition of its time. Nothing is more viewtiful than SoTN and Gradius Gaiden.

I hate Sony, but the best console of this gen is PS2, no doubt. Sony's nothing like Nintendo or Sega (when they still had consoles); they can't make shit worth of games, and the only reason the PS2's so great is becaue of all the awesome third-party games. I doubt I'll ever hear of a stellar game developed in-house by Sony, and not by system sellers like MGS2 or Sly Cooper.

I was referring to the forum in general, not necessarily this topic. You complained about Nintendo fanboys and I was just pointing out that what you said was a bit out of line since I feel there aren't many Nintendo fanboys here. You complained about people getting their heads chopped off by Nintendo fanboys, but I was explaining that it's not only the Nintendo fanboys doing the chopping here. I was just pointing out the flaws in your logic. I wouldn't call that complaining. However, I do agree that the PSX totally rocks. Twinbee Deluxe Pack, SoTN, Gradius Gaiden, R-Types, Xevious 3D + G, Ape Escape, Crash, and many others rock!

I didn't complain about Nintendo fanboys. I was making a joke involving Nintendo fanboys. The Nintendo fanboys chopping people's head off is a high degree hyperbole since we all know the Nintendo demographic: mostly kids. It's unimaginable that wannabe pokemon trainers could ever reach our heads.

Edit: I was joking on both counts. The second because people were comparing the wrong games. We know SoTN and Gradius are the best.

UFO was probably making fun of my post, despite the fact that I was talking about the board in general.

oh ok. It's sometimes hard to tell scarasm on forums. There were some more serious complaints reguarding Nintendo fanboys in pervious topics, so I got this mixed up with those.

I think Nintendo's "game creating mindset" works well with handhelds but not so great on home consoles. I'll support Nintendo's handhelds 'til they quit making them, but I got tired of the Gamecube fairly quickly.

Personally, I'm starting to turn into more of a Microsoft man. Especially after what they said about Xbox Live Arcade focusing on old coin-op arcade games, newer arcade like games from smaller developers, etc.

What?! You have got to be kidding me. This is far worse than I ever could have expected. Gamecube sales are down?! Seriously bad news.

Look for Nintendo to file for bankruptcy as soon as tomorrow. No way can they come back from this crushing death-blow.

I once told myself that once Nintendo stopped making consoles and dropped out of the business, that I would give up videogame forever.

But I don't want to...so screw Nintendo, there I said it.

Finally. Someone who understands. Nintendo never did anything worthwhile with hardware or software after Earthbound. Worst company ever.

While Nintendo did make some good games during 8/16 bit eras, after the N64 debuted, I began to lose faith in them.

Now? I probably wouldn't care if they fell off the face of the earth right now.

Actually, my last two posts were 100% sarcasm. The second one designed to get the kid to say something even more silly than:

"Nintendo is digging their own grave I swear! I have no more respect for Nintendo which is sad because they are the ones who introduced me to videogames."

Digging their own grave? Last time I looked at software charts (a couple weeks ago) five of the top ten games were for Nintendo systems. Four of those five were published by Nintendo. And the DS is riding high atop hradware sales charts as well. If by "digging their own grave" you meant "making money hand over fist, as usual" then yeah, sure.

No respect for Nintendo? That's pretty fairweather given what you claim your personal circumstances to be. So Nintendogs is kimoi to the fucking maximum extent allowed by law, the new Rev controller looks stupid and OMFG Gamecube sales are down a little. Nintendo is far from done. Doing what they've always done. Which is provide enjoyable little experiences in videogameland for the young at heart. They've never done anything else and I don't know why they'd be expected to. Do we need another Sony? Another Microsoft?

A good game is a good game. Regardless of hardware, software format, developer, publisher, profitability etc. I'll play a good game any day of the week.

I love my NGC.It's the first Nintendo system I have ever liked.I bought a black pal one in 2002 whilst waiting for Jeff Minter's Unity (cancelled) and Ikaruga....Now I own a jap Spicy orange one It's so darn cute.My favorite games are Mr Driller:Drill land (opus of the series),all the shooters on the system, Viewtifull Joe series,Super Mario Sunshine ( I absolutly love the summer theme) despite being a collect everthing game with a bad camera.
I also love P.N.03 but I need a new copy after selling my pal one.... Rogue leader is still one of the prettiest games ever.
In my country (Belgium) the gamecube still has a very big place in the shops .Mostly a bit smaller then the PS2. In the shop in Leuven Puyo Puyo fever was sold out on the GC with the week whilst all the PS2 copies are still hthere two years after the release of the game.Go figure.

I love the GC to bits.

As usual its the people that can't afford all 3 systems moaning at the those who can that the GC is a pile of dung.

The GC is an amazing piece of work.. Its small, it hardly ever breaks down, it has amazing games exclusive to the system, it has the best infra red joypad on the market today and it has only a few EA games.

If you want DVD get a Qube.

What more can you ask for?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

It may not be getting all the EA games on other systems, but the GCN still gets plenty of EA games. Some of the recent ones have content exclusive to GCN too. However, some EA games are badly ported, though many of them are good ports. The GCN ones are missing online, though. I admit that I actually like some EA games like NBA Street.

I like GCN quite a bit. I like many games on it like Metroid Primes, Super Smash Bros Melee, Wind Waker, the Midway Arcade Treasures, F-Zero GX, Four Swords Plus (import), Mr. Driller Drill Land (import), and Super Monkey Ball quite a bit. I also like being able to play GBA games like F-Zero Climax on it with the GB Player.
