Hey, I just bought a loose cart of Recca and I'm sure it is not a boot. When I first put the game in I got the usual garbled screen. I cleaned the contacts with an eraser and now the garbled screen is gone but now I notice there is audio popping/clipping. Mainly it happens when I fire my weapon, every few seconds there is a subtle clip until I stop firing. Or when the game goes back to the title screen I will hear one single clip and when I press start to begin a new game I hear one single clip. I'm running this through an AV Famicom/Framemeister setup via composite on an LCD monitor using the LCD monitors stock speakers. I tried the rom to compare and there is no clipping. I also do not remember my old cart clipping that I owned long ago. Other Famicom games on this same setup don't clip. Another thing I notice is that the default volume/sound effect levels seem lower than all of my other Famicom games, though that part just may be the coding. The EMU version was also louder on max settings.
How can I fix this?

Re: Recca Famicom Sound Issues
Argh, now it seems the music is clipping too every time it hits a certain note. :/
Re: Recca Famicom Sound Issues
I'm guessing this may be a problem with the game running through the framemeister via composite? Can anyone with Recca and Framemeister verify? Preferably on an AV Famicom.
Re: Recca Famicom Sound Issues
I know the NES/Famicom sound chip has an issue that causes a slight pop whenever you change a note a certain way. It's entirely possible that it's normal behavior. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the Famicom to tell you for sure.

<S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go.

I think your right.trap15 wrote:I know the NES/Famicom sound chip has an issue that causes a slight pop whenever you change a note a certain way. It's entirely possible that it's normal behavior. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the Famicom to tell you for sure.
I cleaned it a bit more as well as my famicom cart connector and it got better.
Some of the other sounds I was hearing, was just the literal audio encoded in the game because the rom did the exact same thing in the boss fight.
Nice, glad my cart is OK.*relief*
