I just started Einhaender!

Post by Carmen »

I bought this game back in June, along with G.Darius (and Devil May Cry, and ICO). I really got into G.Darius and played that intently, and never touched Einhaender that much (I had grips coming to piloting a 'larger' craft, which is probably why I got into G.Darius faster).

After a week and a half of brutal masochism (i.e. Gradius III/IV), I decided to try something else. I put in Megaman 8 and beat that last week. And then I started this game....

"Wow." I'm so impressed by this game. Everything about it is so meticulously well done! The plot, the aesthetics, the quick-fire gameplay, the strategy, the differant ships; the attention to detail in this game is fantastic!! I'm really, really having fun with it. Hearing the sirens blare in the first stage, finding the alternate path to the ruins of the city, watching the sheer power of the Grenades for the first time  , constantly having to pick up new arms during the 2st. boss battle while being bombarded with missiles and enemy ships: incredible. Its not simply a great shmupping experience, its just a wonderful experience in general!!

Anyway, enough of that. I could go on and on, but I won't

Right now, I'm able to get up to the spider tank in the third stage (well, unless I use Continues, then I can get furthur). Its a tough game (though I really haven't noticed much differance between Normal and Hard), but it doesn't feel unfair like Gradius III/IV. Thank God

Yep, that Einhander really is something. I laughed at that little boss in stage 2 when it jumps up and just plops down on the ground.

I also love that stage 2 mid-boss. I always aim for:

1) Destroying it with the Cannon when it jumps at you

2) Getting a 16x bonus which requires you to manage Wasps very carefully

3) Destroying it when it's in the background with Wasps (and it happened to be when I wasn't recording for replays...)
