setting up son trinitron

Post by DarkSlayer »

Hi, just got Sony Trinitron KV29F1U. I am using RGB scart cables. I want to determine if the output signal is 480P or 480i

I saw Faginrs500's youtube video on de interlacing 480i into 240p.

If the TV supports the de interlacing i want 240p

if it dosnt i want 480p

I cant tell if the signal is in 480p and hence the deinterlacing dosnt work or that its in 480i and my trinitron dosnt support deinterlacing

thanks

ok just tested it with the PS2 with RGB cables, and it works!

Confused as to why it wont work on xbox 360 with rgb cables.

EDIT: do i need 50Hz or 60Hz?

That TV won't support 480p.

Il break down the problem:

on the PS2 if i can press the show teletext button (the one which deinterlaces the picture) at any time, HOWEVER on some games (and the ps2 start up screen) it will show teletext AND the game in the background as a 480i image. Other games such as Ico it will go to 240p when pressed (wierd right?)

All of the above is fine- it works on the ps2 for specific games

The problem is with the xbox 360 plugged into the SAME scart input with RGB leads also.
When i press the teletext button with the xbox on NOTHING happens, teletext dosnt show up and it dosnt overlay the screen eather (hence dosnt deinterlace it eather...)

I cant work out why it would work for the ps2 and not the xbox 360? iv tried in both 50Hz and 60Hz.

Might just bite the bullet and get the ultimate scart adaptor

On a side note the CRT's image is awesome! and 29" in TATE is really really nice

thanks for you time :)

I never had any such problems. I'm unable to play with this as that TV is now in storage.

The UMSA won't do anything for you in this instance.

Other games such as Ico it will go to 240p when pressed (wierd right?)
but ICO is a genuine 240p title.

o! wwhat a conincidence that i choose to test with that title lol.

So for any1 who sees this thread in the future and is having a similar problem:

It seems with this model sony had worked out how to show teletext and video both at 480i so the deinterlacing 'trick' wont work as it does for earlier sony trinitrons- there may be another way to do it- but i havent figured it out yet :)
