Hello
So yeah, is this mode just to make noobs feel like they are awesome or something? I played through all 3 of the novice modes and started feeling ready for the real stuff, thought for kicks I would give the full on arrange mode ULTRA levels a try and I nearly 1cc'ed it my first attempt...
As far as I can tell, if you just keep a stock of gems and switch your characters at the right time and hold down the shot button (not to mention the autobomb feature) you are basically untouchable.
Is this a glitch or something or was it supposed to be like that?
- Explode gems
- switch characters
- explode gems
- switch characters
- Oh shit...a boss...out of gems...AUTOBOMBS!
- rinse and repeat
Just wondering since the NOVICE Ultra arrange level (unable to character switch) seems HARDER for me than the non-novice Ultra level (able to character switch)...something seems wrong here, lol

I am helpless without auto-bombs...

Futari Arrange is pretty strange. I'd say it is probably a step easier than novice for survival. It's more of an "abuse this silly scoring system" mode. Fully optimizing it for score is really challenging though.
Dimahoo is a fun game.

Arrange Mode is essentially all about the scoring. Survival is easy if that's all you're after, it's learning to get the most out of the scoring that's the main appeal (which is quite tricky to do). Novice Mode is simply an easier version of 1.5 with autobombs, but even its Ultra difficulty is extremely easy, arguably easier than 1.5 Original is thanks to the autobombs.Crazy Climber wrote:Just wondering since the NOVICE Ultra arrange level (unable to character switch) seems HARDER for me than the non-novice Ultra level (able to character switch)...something seems wrong here, lol

Novice ultra is massively easier than 1.5 original, imo.

Ok, I got it. Its all about the score in arrange mode. Makes sense now
Oh hell yes novice ultra is MUCH easier than 1.5 original. I can 1cc novice ultra now on a regular basis. Original 1.5 I'm lucky to get past the third boss or so. That's what prompted my sig, I really am helpless without autobombs, lol. I'm old school, having trouble with 3 buttons. If I just choose one shot to use and keep my index finger right over the bomb I do better, but once I try switching shots and using bombs I fall apart....

I think most people just hold autofire and then tap/hold laser whenever they need to use it. I dunno if you're just tapping auto or what, but if you hold it in then you only have to focus on laser and bomb. But I can imagine either way it might have a Twister effect though.

You could always treat it like a two-button game: tap for rapid, hold for laser + bomb button. The third button just makes it easier - you get used to holding it down constantly and holding shot as well whenever you need laser.
When you start going for higher scores you often want to let up on the rapid fire though to wait for the screen to fill with bullets or to kill enemies with only the laser, etc.

Thanks for the tips guys
I've been playing around with a few techniques, I think the best way though is just to start playing 3 fingers/3 buttons. It will make my gameplay weaker for a little while but better do it now and just get it right, especially since some shmups require 4+ buttons
