i thought people modded component cables into vga cables?
or are those two different things?
same result. Using a D-Terminal cable is easier because you have more cables inside (for the sync signals).
Yeah that is why I was asking, because it is way too all over the place, the best you could do is switch video processors depending on each games max/native outputs.
my recommendation stands: get a XRGB-Mini first. It's very, very good for 240p and 480i and still good for 480p and if you want something better for 480p you can still add another processor.

Any chance of posting some pics of a 720p source? I've often wondered what would be the ultimate display for PS3/360, I think the BVM 32" is it.

Quick shots I took of the PS3 dashboard in 720p using Sony component cables. The artifacts you see in the photos are from my cell phone/moire that don't exist in reality. I haven't had time to calibrate the convergence yet and it shows haha.
Slightly off-topic, but someone down the street is giving away a "This is a 36 inch diagonal Tube TV made by SONY (WEGA features)." TV is in perfect working condition.
see if it's in good shape and take a look at the connections. If it turns on right, doesn't look about to fail, and is cheap, then yes take it. Just get some help carrying it around; 36" is going to be a pain to move around.
Germans pronounce the "W" as a "V," don't they? Sony bought up one of the early German radio/sound-engineering companies, whose name was the initialism WEGA. Eventually Sony slapped the brand name on some Trinitron tubes. I don't know if it denotes anything in particular, other than representing a better quality of television set, supposedly. I didn't hear about them selling any big televisions in the '00 era that weren't up to WEGA quality (which seems to be: silvery or maybe black console housings, flat Trinitron tube, ample connections on the back for plugging in various equipment, including component connections and maybe even RGB, though I haven't seen this on a US distributed WEGA).
I don't really know what you mean otherwise, since I don't know of any "Sony Vega" (there's Sony Vegas, but that's editing software) nor did I see it mentioned here.
I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but is it possible to obtain scanlines on an NEC XM29 running a 480i signal without an external device (ie. slg 3000 or extron etc)

thank you
I'm afraid you're out of luck. Some CRT TV's have a de-interlace feature, but these displays are few and far between.

????????
scanlines help to smoothen progressive ~15.7khz pictures. they look really blocky without them. they don't do as much for higher resolutions, and most games from the ps2/gcn/dc/xbox era are not upscaled ~240p games i'd wager, but games made with double the resolution in mind.
blog - scores - collection Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

But 480i and 480p are still SD and back in the days these consoles and games were made for analogue CRT displays with scanlines, Digital displays is appropriate for HD consoles like Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U only.
If it matters the scanlines im getting on the 360 while using the slg on the necx29 are fantastic.. it's just that the picture color is horrible and really (really!) dark.
It's ironic that running ketsui on mame @ 15khz gives a such a sexy image on the NEC, while running the same game on a J360 looks ghastly.. muchi muchi pork is the same. Is it honestly any wonder Cave went to such lengths to have mame support removed given this???
Anyways, thanks to a YT video fagin uploaded i have ordered an extron 580xi i hope to use with a loewe set for the 360.
I'm puzzled as to why you have issues with a SLG, 360 and your monitor. That set-ups works perfectly for me on several different 31khz or > CRT's.
Don't forget the darker your adjust the scanlines the darker the image will end up being. You're taking away 50% of the image with scanlines fully enabled, so you need to take this into account.
I'd rather use the SLG over a 580xi any day of the week..... you'll get slight flicker with the 580xi and need other items, like a SCART lead and Sync Strike (for example).
the color issues are there regardless if the switch on the slg is turned on or off.. the bullets in mushihimesama futari are blue instead of pink regardless of dip settings!
You could just have a faulty SLG by the sounds of things, its like one of the pins isn't connecting properly. Does your 360 work fine when connected directly to the display?
hi Bucko, yes the 360 is fine (i use the vga on the NEC screen)
I have tried my SLG 3000 with pc and 360 on a hand full of displays and it doesn't look right at all.. it's very disappointing to be honest. I hope it isn't faulty..
especially with the 360 the SLG is extremely straight forward. Can't imagine that you're doing anything wrong. Take a snapshot and post it here or write Jochen a PM.
Scored a PVM-1453MD Not amazingly cheap but looks to be in good condition, and it's definitely a good upgrade for my old 1370QM assuming it survives shipping.
I've pretty much given up on finding a decent 20 inch BVM here in Sweden. I suppose the only option would be to either pick up one in Germany, find a proxy to send me one, or be as lucky as to find a seller that would be willing to ship me one to Sweden.
Does anyone know how to find a state of the art TATE-able monitor here in Sweden? Otherwise I would probably have to pay premium for shipping arramgements.
